Mine is Alberta to Alberta, it’s gone from 24-48 hours to 4-6 weeks, at least. Absolutely ludicrous, but the word ludicrous is just another form of spelling for Lieberal government.
Alberta restricted transfer

In Alberta I bought a restricted June 13, 2022. The vender summited the transfer on June 15, 2022 (I guess the delay was related to the massive surge of sales), and the transfer was approved when I called on July 4th. 4-6 weeks is nonsense. Call after 3 weeks and you should be good.
Just dial the Alberta extension (ex 9026)
I don't know of an email address. But I didn't have too much trouble getting through to the Alberta CFO's office. Call first thing in the morning, or at 12:30.
I really appreciate your assistance. The Federals dropped my calls 22 times before I got through to your listed extension. I spoke with a very pleasant woman who approved it while I was on the line and e mailed my registration to me, they also notified Prophet River who have already processed it to the mailing stage. they won't answer any emails regarding status of verification. I'm still waiting on my last purchase on June 7 initiated June 8th. I was on the phone with CFP for another transfer and had asked. There was another forum and some people suggest CFO is prioritizing first time owners, not sure if that is true, but likely not.
Well that would be kinda cool. It would mean that the CFO isnt the heartless group we sometimes think they are because of who they work for. Maybe they're trying to get as many handguns in hands as possible. Prioritizing first timers wouldnt be a bad thing, especially if some sort of grandfathering did come to pass, though it doesnt look like it.
I did not have any reference numbers either.... and I'll admit I played a little dumb... said ma'am and thank you very much a few times, but it got done very quickly. She asked my name, PAL #, verify address, verify email.... verify use (target) and within 4 minutes the Transfer Notifications were in my inbox.
Mine was registered at 10:40 yesterday on a purchase from Prophet River, they got it in the mail yesterday, delivered to my door at 10:05 in Sherwood Park this morning. Typical great service from Prophet River. They only wanted the reference number which Prophet River provided.
In Alberta, three weeks should be enough. Call (ex 9026) and they can probably approve it while you are on the phone.
