Looking at this picture I am wondering if those are all left side safeties?

Most type 81 are right hand safety.

Or the pic is mirrored.

They were photographed upside down. If you look further backnin TI's Instagram they are pictured on the right side.

Nothing really at this moment. There was and could still be a guy on gun post selling a AK side rail that requires drilling and tapping to fit it to the Type 81. And True North Arms did leak pictures of a "Magwedge" styled optic mount they are developing for the Type 81.

Other than the Kobra side mount, and the unobtainable picatinny ... what is a good side mount option ?

Don't mind making adjustments, drill, fill, push, shove, whatever ...

AK-100 series side rail. Just be aware the type 81 receiver is narrower than an AK, so you'd have to machine a plate to make it further out from the side of the receiver.

If you can get a Type 81 with the threaded "optic ready" pins installed, or can acquire the safety and threaded from someone with a spare set , GNutzGuy has do it yourself instructions on how to modify to fabricate a mounting plate to to add a commonly available AK rail for use with a 1913 rail or Eastern Block side mounted optic. https://youtu.be/L2b79LsUOnQ

Hello everyone! Quick update...

The handguards have all been cut and are out for anodize, I'll go check some out tuesday and grab some new photos for the thread.

A few people were asking about pre-orders, we're not planning on taking any for this first batch but things could change in the future.

What's your plan for selling them? EE?
