If they are selling for $469 in the States, I wonder what the cost is before they are imported?

As it would be imported directly from germany, I'd expect the price to be similar, as both our currency (USD vs CAD) are quite even. Unless off course you try to import one for yourself from the states... Be prepared to wait for the verification yourself and the risk of losing your money through it...

According to a post on Rimfire Central:

Atlantic Firearms just posted on another website that these have just arrived in the country and are in Customs. They estimated that they would be in the stores around three weeks.

I went to the website but couldn't find any mention of it though.

$700 here, $469 in the US.....why do we always get f**ked like this?

Name me ONE thing we get at the same price the US does! Cars, food, guns EVERYTHING is more expensive up here! Live with it!

Seriously, I'd really like to know where people get the idea that Canadian prices should always be the same as US prices. It's ridiculous.

I understand that when our dollar is worth 80cents of a US dollar, but when they are par, why is there still the same difference?
Where have you been living.....Mars?

There is no reason why we should pay more for the same damn thing if our dollar is worth the same as their own.

In this particular instance the rifle we're talking about comes from germany. If everything goes right for the classification matter, we've already got our own canadian importers that make buisness directly with the maker in germany ! So why should anybody care about going through the import crap from the United States or the 300$ "proudness fee" that some look to pay even before we've got any price or final classification on the product.

Economics. US market is 300million Canadian market is 30million. Importers need to make the hassles of importation worth the effort and to make enough profit to sustain themselves on a smaller firearms market. Or maybe the Germans are saying, Americans can have it for X but the Canadians, since their market is small and we have to jump through hoops too, have to pay X+100 because we sell less to them.

Who cares about the pricing!? IF WE CAN'T EVEN GET THEM RE-CLASSIFIED, NONE OF THIS MATTERS.

What the hell is the status with the re-classification request? That's all we need to focus on at the moment: get the RCMP to move on this.

seriously.....

if we are purchasing them from Germany our prices should not be different!!! why would they? the cost of exporting from germany??? Americans have to do the same thing....

our cost to import? or ship? into canada... americans are paying the same shipping and really.. importing is just paperwork AND US state dept is harder to deal with than canadian agencies... try to import into canada. if it is allowed in the country then it is not hard... fill in the paper and fax it. If that is a 2-300 fee then something is really wrong!!!

our dollar is not .7-8 like years ago. really we should be in the same price at 500!!!! if it is much more it is greed!!!!

Importers & Distributors... I have taken many people out shooting and all have enjoyed it but when they see the cost of shooting they leave it.... try to keep these little rifles affordable! It will bring more people into the fray as gun owners! Are you simply out to make an extra 100 or are you operating a company with conviction and commitment to firearms as an industry & hobby.

If a CZ-858/58 can be 650 with accessories, this little gun should not be more.

Exactly. Strength in numbers. Given these are made of aluminium, those who want to pay more can pay more and ask the seller to engrave "ELITE CLASS" on the side. This should make everyone feel better.

The prices should be very similar..I would expect at least within 10%, if it isn't then someone is geting a larger mark up than what they are in the usa..
even if they buy ten times as much as we do the will not be buying them at half price at wholesale.. I also would expect that they have to earn the buying power and that only happens after time.

I'm pretty confident in saying you can't import new prohibited firearms for comsumer purchase - only for qualified government entities.

Unless just 5 guys buying here but everybody in the states getting one I don't believe a second that the base price will jump 50%. Volume might dictate sales price for certain. Sure our price may be slightly higher but it shouldn't be outrageous as many expect.

Whats wrong about this thread ? It started with "its prohib" then got to "i'd pay 800 for it" evolved into "it will cost 800" now its "we're f**ked its prohib mp5" Come on stop looking for a reason to whine about. Why not talking about you'd like to rig it that'd sound much better otherwise :sucks: and keeps doing 360's after 60 pages :bangHead:

None of that matters if the RCMP isn't actively inspecting one for the purpose of re-classification. It's great to say "we're going to make them change their minds!", but have they received the request or is it just idle chitchat about another gun we won't have?

60 pages and we still don't know what's up.

True... Real info would be great...

Since I usually need a while to gather the money to buy a new gun, having no news on this one, will without doubt make me look elsewhere...

We managed to make 600 posts out of virtually no information. Not too shabby. Basically everything we argue about is conjecture until they get re-classed and a price has been set.
