Grease for pistols

I use slip 2000 grease, I apply it with a hobby paint brush very light coat. I like grease it stays put and oil migrates. I would not use automotive grease or other industrial grease tho, But I have basically stopped using oil
Any grease is good. Wheel bearing or otherwise.
It should be applied and wiped off, all you need is a thin film (just like oil).
I recently found an aerosol lithium grease. 3 in 1 White Lithium Grease. Magic. Spray it on, wipe off the overspray.

Why?
I have been using Mobile 1 synthetic bearing grease (the red one). Maybe a third of the cartridge has been used in the last 8 years and it will probably last me a good while yet. No need to spend the same money on a toothpaste size tube of labeled gun grease when good automotive grease will do the same thing at a fraction of the cost.
I am happy with it mostly because of the aerosol spray and wipe off method. It holds up well but I don't know if it is any better than any other.
Lithium grease is known to be very good for water resistance and temperature stability. Is it significantly better than another grease or lubricant in this application? dunno
lubriplate is good, not too thick, good for cams and such, I have had a tube for yrs, still lots left.

I have used super lube for years, also the pocket clip oilers for pins, thou the oils is heavy enough for slides as well
both are clear synthetic. I really like the oil for hinge pins, it will not run.
For fine oil I use a G96 oil, as well as the spray for most pistols.

grease is a no from me, oil, oil, oil. I use Pro-Shot now, but have used copious amounts of Mobile 1, Militec-1 (which many have said is Mobile 1 lol) and other oils over the years. Grease just gums everything up and attracts dirt. I run my guns wet with oil, and whatever it doesn't need it throws off. Pretty simple. but I hardly shoot so yvmv

I decided to go with some White lithium grease which I was able to order from amazon. We'll see how well this stuff does and adjust accordingly.

Same here, oil only for me. A little goes along ways; a fine boundary layer is all that is needed. Firearm lubrication demands are pretty low in comparison to all other heat machines.
Because your using automotive or industrial grease which is why you gum up stuff and why it attracts dirt !
