Looking to get more accuracy with a .22, Bolt-action options?

I currently own 3 .22 LR's and they are all semi-auto blasters for the gravel pit. I have a Ruger 10/22, Marlin 795 and GSG-15.

I would really like to jump into more of a precision setup for .22LR and figure a bolt action is the way to go.

So far I am leaning towards a CZ457 as it appears to be a very popular choice. I love the looks of the Canadian model but it doesn't have a match grade action?

What other options should I consider? I'm vaguely aware of the Tikka, Bergara and Ruger offerings. Not looking to spend more than $1000 on the rifle, scope will come after that.

10/22 with the right barrel will shoot very well... so that is an option. Now if you want a bolt, CZs and Tikkas are great options as you can easily swap out barrels.

consider a tuner as that can help finding the right ammo so much easier. quality match ammo will be necessary

proper bedding and optics and enjoy

While the CZ 457 and Tikka T1X are good options to start with for bolt action .22 rifles, ammo is always key. A custom barrel in either rifle may contribute to improved performance, but again, ammo is the key.

A word of caution about tuners. A tuner won't make finding the right ammo any easier. It doesn't work that way.

A tuner will improve the performance of ammo that already performs well. It can't make dramatic improvements like shrinking groups by half. A tuner won't turn mediocre ammo into better ammo. Furthermore, they require much more testing than implied in some threads on this forum.
 
If you're only entering the precision game go for the 457 Canadian. They can be plenty accurate on their own. You can always throw a yodave trigger upgrade on it for cheap.

If you find you can't get the accuracy you want out of it, upgrade. A 457 Varmint MTR is a bit of an upgrade that comes with the match chamber, adjustable trigger, and comfortable wood stock.
 
It all depends on how precise you want to get, and also how much money you intend to spend on match grade ammunition. Even an older rifle like a CZ 452 or 453 will shoot excellent. It may not be up to Anchutz standards, but you will never realize the potential of any of those rifles unless you spend $15 to $25 a box for 50 rounds of ammunition.
 
The Varmint MTR and LRP are the only CZ 22lr's that have the match-grade barrel and guarantee 15mm groups at 50m. They might be a touch over $1k brand new but could be found on the EE for less than that. Every other offering has the same "grade" of barrel and action, although some barrels iron sights, thick, sporter, SS, etc. If you want the Canadian then I say go for it. It has a tastfully done stock without the literal word "Canadian" sketched all over it and you can upgrade parts down the road if you so desire.

This is the first serious accuracy testing target I shot with a 57M Custom Classic in 2014 (When I could still shoot well) - A 20X5 @ 50 with a good lot number of Eley Match. That rifle, while very accurate, had a number of function issues and I finished up using it as a donor for a custom build.
I sold that factory barrel to an enthusiast who fitted it to another action with very good results.

The barrels themselves are no more "match" than other CZ factory barrels. The match refers to the chamber, which is a "CZ match chamber".

The caveat for any accuracy guarantee is always the use of select ammo.
 
Buy a CZ 457 with a match chamber. Barrel changes are easier that with a Tikka and the chamber is better. Get used to spending a lot more for ammunition than what works in your blasters. 10/22s need to be built to able to shoot with the CZ.
 
There is a 457 MTR in the ERE right now for $850! Pick up a few bricks of SK rifle match or Lapua Center-X both will likely shoot great out of it.
