Here in NB there is talk about letting us hunt on Sundays, which provinces allow hunting Sundays now? I went to high school with the premier, maybe if I see him on the weekend I can give him my 2 cents

it's a bit confusing in ontario for me. except for a few townships(renfrew for one) most everything in ontario south of the french and mattawa rivers didn't allow sunday gun hunting and this was always spelled out in the hunting regulations. then the ofah and mnr approach the municipalities and ask them for a vote to see how they feel. if the vote carries then we have sunday hunting in that township. i never knew the township was the body who determined this.is this a case , that if the township says ok, then the existing provincal law is just not enforced?i live in south frontenac township, no sunday gun hunting,i own property in central frontenac, we have sunday gun hunting, the township council agreed. my hunt camp is in north frontenac and we can sunday hunt there. why didn't the government just say "sunday gun hunting is open province wide"?

Please do put the bug in his ear,we need all the help we can get with this one.

From what I understand, only NB,NS and PEI have no Sunday hunting whatsoever.(Welcome to the time warp that is the maritimes,a nickel short and a day late.)All other provinces and 43 states have at least some Sunday hunting, whether it is bow only, certain areas,or province/state-wide.

BTW,there is also a rumour of haveing a special archery hunt in '08 around the greater SJ area and allowing a 2nd deer from these zones. That'd be great!!!:)Be sure and press Mr Graham for that one too.;)

then there is areas like our deer camp area..area 60 it has some parts of it ok to hunt sundays and other parts are closed..
it just sucks, that were we are there is no sunday hunting, but a mile or so south of us ..its ok..
some days i wish i had a long rope to haul that deer out:evil:

Man, the more I hear about eastern Canada the less I like it.. When it comes to laid back laws the northern territories and AB/SK seem to be about the slackest (albeit I hear you're not allowed in the bush with a gun out of season to cut down on poaching I guess), but BC's scenery is awesome and we're pretty laid around here. SW BC anywhere close to Vancouver (or any other major city obviously) is obviously pretty anti-gun due to all the leaf lickers an yuppies but the rest of the province is pretty much a free for all with reason. I can go plinking on crown land whenever I want without having to get all done up and unless you get an overly zealous young officer no one says anything about having a hunting rifle in your truck (hell northern BC you see gun racks and shotguns all over the place). LR

Three years ago my parents came out to BC for the Christening of our yougest daughter, We were at Church by 9am, out at 11am, on the Alpine by 1:30pm! We sat and Glassed for awhile, then Father looked at me and said, "You gotter made bye! Get to Church and hunting all in one day, with the Ministers blessing!!!!" As we were leaving the Church the Minister asked what our plans for the day were, after I told him, He said that's great, best of luck to you gentlemen! Shook our hand and gave us a pat on the back!......Don't see that in every town back in NL!!!.....Father loved it!!!

Alberta allows Sunday hunting in some areas, but mostly the north where there is less population density. Unfortunately in the south part of the province where I usually hunt it's not allowed. There are large areas in the south that is all crown land, and in my opinion Sunday hunting should be allowed on ALL crown land. I'm self- employed, so it's sometimes hard for me to take a lot of time off from my business. Being able to hunt both on Saturday and Sunday really appeals to a guy like me.

Manitoba has allowed Sunday hunting for waterfowl/small game for the past few years, and big game hunting in selected wmu's. Next year (2008) it is supposed to be wide open. The way I figure; if you can smoke, drink, gamble and shop on Sundays surely the Lord won't frown on us wholesome huntin' types partaking in a little exercise on a Sunday!;);)

Wow, the rest of the country is way behind the times! That's plain silly! Are you folks allowed to use your cars on Sunday? Or is it a "horse & buggy" only day?(kiddy yap) How about shopping? Are you're stores closed too on Sundays? How about going to the range on Sunday? Bow and arrow only?:p

Aren't the rest of you mainly protestants(i.e. more liberal with religious practices)? Here in Quebec where 80%+ are catholics and there's a church on every corner, Sunday hunting has been around forever.

When I was living in SK, the big scream against Sunday hunting was "Family Values!" from the religious types, that still have some pull, apparently.

Not enough pull to stop a guy from spending all day Sunday sitting in a bar watching anything but naked dancers, and drinking, just enough pull to keep the Sunday hunting off the books.

Wonder if the bar owners are kicking a buck or two, to the cause. If all those guys go hunting on Sundays, they won't be buying as much beer, eh?

It don't matter so much to me any more, but it struck me as kinda sad that all the bars were open, and I was not allowed to go hunting.

Cheers

Its getting better. If you look back over the past few years on the WMU map, the green zone is gettingstretched more each year. My guess is the insurance companies are doing some serious lobbying to the gov't to keep claims down.

I agree 100%

Time to tell the boss to f--- off cuz you want to go hunting;)
