Why all the hate with 6.5 Creedmoor

Legit question, if the 6.5CM was the cats ass for target shooters why does everyone winning still use 6mm?

Blasphemy you say!

How can this be?

The interwebz and more importantly CGN has declared this Man-Bun, Man Purse wearing, Pumpkin Spice Latte Frappachino drinking Caliber the almighty be all and end all of 6.5’s…

Seriously though, you have a valid point and it is a legitimate question. So far outside of my smarta** comment i hear nothing but crickets on your question.

Insert 6mm Creedmoor here.

Not sure why everyone has their hackles up about marketing. Everyone’s favourite cartridge was marketed at some point. Even the super fudd 270 was the new whiz bang super cartridge at one point in its life. Weatherby is probably the cringiest of all heavily marketed companies. How about browning with all the stupid stickers everywhere?

Some people just need an excuse to be outraged I guess

Lower recoil, which gives you a better chance of seeing misses during comps. Lower recoil also makes for faster shooting on the clock, as youre dealing with less muzzle movement.
The BCs of the 105-115gr 6mm target bullets are similar to the 130-140 grain 6.5mms, so you get the advantage of lower recoil without hurting ballistics. Most of the 6s push bullets quite a bit faster than the 6.5 creed can push 130-140s, so you get the benefit of less drop with similar wind drift during competition.

Not all; my 6.5 x 55 started out as many did; a government military contract. It, like the .303, .30-06, .308 etc. Each ubiquitous in their countries (empires) before becoming "sporting" rounds.

You’re right (except 308, that was a commercially marketed version of the T65 prototype for the 7.62x51 nato) so anyone who uses anything but those has been adulterated by evil capitalist marketing and bought into the hype! In a world where companies sell things to people for profit! The nerve

270 is the original man bun

Are you saying the 270 cal is very ###est :p RJ

300m, 600m, PRS, F class mid range...all seem to point to 6mm at the top of the heap.
1000m F open, 7mm's and 30 cal's are the top dogs.
National course is where the Creedmoor got its start, and a 6.5 will still win over a 6mm in F/O all things being equal.
There are still a lot of shooters using the 6.5 Creedmoor in PR C/ PRS from what I have been told.
The truth is ,the people winning are winning because they are good shooters, it wouldn't matter what they were shooting .

Sako also has a 156gr SP, doesn’t look quite as round though.
