Hi, I just got a Tika T3x in 223, with a 1 in 8" twist rate.

What ammo would be best for that rate, i.e. bullet weight?

I wonder if my accuracy expectations are to high too. What should I expect form a T3x ?

Thanks!

With any rifle, you're going to have to buy a few different boxes and try and find out what shoots best in your rifle. Every barrel has its own unique preferences. But given Tikkas are known for being a shooter, it's a fairly safe bet any quality match ammo is going to be good. When I shoot factory, I bounce back and forth between Federal Gold Medal Match and Hornady Match, but that's more on whatever is around at that time.

For 1:8, you will likely find that anything in the 68 - 80 gr range will do good.

As for expected accuracy, that is up to you, Tikka does have a 1 MOA guarantee, so there is at least that.

Agree 100% with this. One mating of a rifle with an ammo may have varying results with another identical rifle and same ammo. I've seen this time and again.

That said, for my T3x TAC A1, the best results for me are Nosler Custom Competition Match Grade 77gr. But everyone's mileage may vary...

I got very good groups at 200 yards with the Sako 223 hunting Ammo I think they were 50 grainers - sold it after I got my Savage Axis it shot better than my Tikka at 200 yards

The two 223 1/8 I had /have seemed to be chambered for 75 Amax ELDM loaded with boat tail junction at shoulder neck junction. One would need a longer mag though, like aics with MDT plastic ten shot.
With anything up to 55gr mine shot ok not great. 1/2" - 3/4"
