Let me start off by saying when I was a kid I took a lot of small pest around my grandparents sawmill with a break action rifle in 177. And well I’m older now and I have my own property and I would like to try taking a few pest with an air pistol, try to get back to my childhood so to say. I have been looking on and off for the past while. My search’s keep bringing me back to the Diana chaser. My only concern with this pistol is the use of C02. What am I gaining or looseing by choosing a CO2 pistol? The Diana seems to have the fps, from reviews it is more then accurate enough, it is offered in 177 or 22. But for some reason the CO2 is a hang up for me. So any information on the Diana chaser, co2 guns in general would be a great help.

I am aware of it. But I also refuse to live my life in fear and always saying what if. Or when.
No experience with the Diana but I started with a Crosman 2240 when I was a kid and moved to a 1322 when I got tired of buying co2, they're both really nice options with all kinds of aftermarket add ons support and modifications. Always felt the .177s shifted too much with the wind but the old czechloslovakian crack barrel is a tack driver on nice days!
Co2 will help save you a bit of elbow grease and make follow up shots faster but it feels wasteful if you're only putting out a few shots, I don't believe storing them under pressure is any good for the seals

CO2 kinda sucks in cold temps and power will be down considerably.
You trade ease of use, for the price of buying cartridges. Or you can go bulk, which I have done, using paintball parts. Bulk CO2 fills are pretty cheap compared to cartridges.
The Crosman 1322 as mentioned, is a pretty good rig, for cooler weather, and the power is able to be selected by the number of pumps. More work, no money spent on CO2. Hard to go too far wrong with a 2240 and a 1322 both,eh?
I have spent enough time shooting grasshoppers in my driveway, to say that accuracy with a pistol is not going to be an issue, though some may be commenting upon their own prowess...
I would casually suggest that worrying about what is and is not a Replica, is time wasted. When the stuff is ordered off the store shelves, is about the time that all will be made clear, meantime, buy what you like!
Gophers in the drive way, I say that’s mainly what mine will be for. I though about the crosman. Just haven’t done enough research on it yet. Though maybe the pump way not the way to go, but the more I hear from everyone sounds like it maybe the ticket.
This is a joke right? Gophers are easy to kill. I have killed a lot with a sling shot. Any accurate pistol or rifle of 495 fps or more in 177 or in 22 will kill any gopher or squirrel. I know that for a fact. I’m not here asking what people think will kill them, I’m just looking for options on good pistols people have used.
And thanks to guys who made the suggestion about the crosman 1322. I have been doing some reading and watching videos about them. I think it will be what I choose to go with. Like I said befor I though the co2 was going to be the best option, but from what I read in cool/cold temps fps is greatly effected and that’s no good to me.
One more vote for the 1322. I've had mine for just a couple years and haven't succumbed to the 'builder syndrome' tho it's been a temptation. Adding a steel breech to allow opticals is a good idea but I'm pretty good under 25yds with the peep sight it comes with. I did make a bubba pumping handle cause the plastic one felt just...too plastic. A piece of conduit, bike handlebar plug and black paint . . .
