Is anyone able to source 45 long Colt brass. I've been looking everywhere for some It's driving me nuts.

There's 45 cowboy special at Rusty Wood if you're into that kind of thing. Basically a short 45 colt. They had nickel 45 colt cases about a month ago when I picked up a few hundred.

Those could be the cat's pajamas if the OP is loading revolvers with light rounds, but won't help in a lever rifle.

If you find some, don't take the time to think about it. Awhile ago Henry had some, I waited till the next day and it was gone. It was 6 weeks and a price increase the next time I saw it.

I've been looking & it's impossible to find at a reasonable price.

So much so it is putting a serious damper on my hopes of participating in my Cowboy Action Shooting.

I recently bought several rifles in .45 LC and 44-40 here on CGN. I scored a healthy amount of brass from those purchases, including lead and molds. Selling a particular caliber firearm could mean getting out of the caliber all together....wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

You thought 80 cent 45 colt brass was bad, I have been looking for 30 Rem brass and a few guys on here told me to check out Rusty Wood and they had it listed, for 3 bucks a piece! but they were sold out of it lol so my search continues
The sad thing is I prob would have bought some at that price
Gun is no good if you can’t use it :(

With a bit of fiddling, you can make up brass for your 30 Remington out of 30-30 cases by removing the rim and cutting new extractor grooves. It's tedious if you don't have a lathe but I've done it using just a drill press.

I checked with Doug at Rayn’er Shine Gunworks to see if he still had brass. This is his response just now:

“sold the last of it this morning still have 45 Cowboy if they are using it in a revolver thats what I use for cowboy action”

Yes I’ve read about others using 30-30 win brass to make it also you can use 38-55 brass and do the same thing
I don’t have a lathe so never tried it
A friend gave me 20 pieces of 32Rem brass so I resized them to 30Rem so at least I can load up some rounds

I will admit for both 10mm Auto and 45 Colt that I ended up buying a couple boxes of factory ammo and shooting it just so I could reuse the brass. With ammo being about $1 per shot and brass being more than $0.50 per case figured I might as well try some factory to compare to my handloads.

YMMV

I bit the bullet (pun intended), and did the same for some of my NOW hard to source cartridges.....times are tough but if you wanna play, you gotta pay
