I could not be happier for her nor more proud of her accomplishment today in Kindersley, SK at the Kindersley Clay Busters Annual Trap Shoot. She shot an 89x100 in the singles event and in the process shot her very first 25 straight. It was so awesome to see and hear the excitement in her face and voice. She was stoked! She was presented with a 25 straight crest and had to forfeit her hat to the traditional shooting of the hat for a first 25 straight score. She couldn't get it off her head fast enough to throw into the air for some fellow shooters who took part. :)

A buddy of mine gave her two hard to find Beretta hats when he flew out last fall to hunt with us. She will be wearing one of them from now on she says until she gets her first 100....she put one of them on for the handicap event and at least 6 people asked her where she got a Beretta hat like that? I think it's blasphemy to wear a Beretta hat when you're shooting a Browning though...;)

That is an incredible feat! I would be happy just hitting two straight, much less 25.

Consider your blessings my friend. I see so many men (my Dad included) being dragged everywhere by their spouse doing things that are clearly not up their alley (like the aforementioned antiquing, mall shopping, and worse...stamping and cardmaking, which I have never once seen a man try and genuinely enjoy).

I've participated in the "shooting of the hat" ceremony many times and ity funny to see, some people can't offer their hat up quick enough and others won't give it up! Lol
 
Good for her, we have a small skeet club, so I have only had the pleasure of handing out three 25 straight patches, and no 50,75, or 100 patches. And my current and previous club only shoot hats for 100 straight, so hats are pretty safe around here these days.

I've shot 11 registered 100 straights in ATA and two in practice over the years. Never shot 100 straight skeet. Several 99's in 12/20/28 and 2-98's in 410 with 75 straight in all 4 but never the 100. I keep trying though.

Ha! That's no joke! She has outshot me in two handicap events already and yesterday she was only one behind me in the handicap. In the singles she bested the lady by 5 targets who bested her last week at provincials. She is definitely getting there. She was given some shooting tips and a gun fitting by Susan Nattrass and Bob Gruzecki, Bob is only one of 6 Canadians to ever achieve AAA27AAA in ATA shooting. Her scores have shot up 10-15 birds each event since they helped her out. They have helped her much more than I ever could.
 
Did she attend one of Susan's classes on the west coast?

No, we met Susan last year in Calgary. We were having dinner at a restaurant when Susan walked in alone. I got up and introduced myself and asked her if she'd like to join us for dinner. We had a good chat over dinner and the next day she offered to help my wife with some tips and checking her for gun fit. A few tweeks and some good pointers and the rest was history as they say..

WOW!!! Congrats for meeting one of the best lady trapshooters that the sport has seen. Susan is an incredible ambassador for trap shooting. I made several visits to the Canadian Championships when they were held in Calgary last year. I went as a spectator, not a competitor, as Calgary is my home club and I enjoyed meeting a few of the long time shooters.
 
I've shot a few events with susan when she was in medicine hat years ago, great lady. I also shot with Floyd a few times, calgary lethbridge and medicine hat. he was quite a character, one quick story. He was always preaching gun fit to have any chance of shooting well. A new shooter showed up at one of the shoots i attended, and missed over half the birds at the first trap, and didn't fair much better the next 75. well floyd had been watching him, and after the kid was done shooting, floyd asked him if he wanted to improve and make shooting more fun. yes said the kid. the young guy had bought a new bt99 with a monte carlo stock., floyd literally snatched it out his hands, went to his car, got out a huge rough rasp, and filed the monte carlo completly off. Sanded it lightly, and gave it back to the kid. The kid was near in tears. I was with a few of my pals, and we couldn't believed what just happened. I don't know whatever became of that kid, but he shot handicap, and if i remember correctly, more then doubled his scores from his singles. Quite a guy.

I not sure if I've met her before, but I used to shoot (Sporting Rifle) at the old (now gone) 'Commonwealth Range' that was East of Edmonton, close to Beaumont—and I know she was there a bit. This was back in the 90's.

We were there to shoot the Championship Events of the Canadian Championships. I was working in BC and couldn't make the preliminary days but took an extra day off to work to shoot the 3 Championship events(200 singles/100 cap and 50 pr doubles).
