I was on the range today and someone mentioned that after Marstar's current stock has run dry that they will be unable to get more of these affordable, large cal beauties.

Can anyone tell me why we should stop importing these awesome rifles?

I seriously doubt that ... Mind you the current stock is finite and will come to an end, after that it becomes a corporate decision wether or not to order enough of these things to convince the Chinese to put them back into production.

if the u.s. lifted the norinco ban...... you'd see them back in production.... but then we wouldn't be paying 399 no mo

The final word

Below is a transcript from an e-mail I had with John at Marstar:

R.S)I was at the range today and shooter told me that after your current M3O5 s are gone, you won't be able to get any more.
J)Hi Richard, and you believe everything you hear.... ?? You did the right thing by contacting us directly.... We normally know more about our inventory than the "experts" out there....
We do have a few sales that have not gone through, we will have a few rifles available in 1-2 weeks, would you like us to notify you ??

R.S)I hope this isn't true.
J)It is and it is not, we have purchase all remaining units in China.... we have a few more shipments coming in and then its all over.... NO MORE

R.S)Can you tell me why there will be no more?
J)They are no longer being made, have not been in production for about 10 years.... We bought up all parts and components and had them made into rifles....

R.S)These rifles are so popular and affordable, it seems a shame that they would stop production?
J)The market for Canada is simply too small to justify setting up again....

R.S)Yes, please let me know when they come in. I will order more than one. J)We will

too much of a market to stop making them imo.

Canada is not a big market for firearms....we all know that.

But like 45APCKING said.... if there was a market like the U.S. They would be put back into production.

Someone should buy all the Chinese tooling and start making them here.
Sure they would cost more, but they would be canadian made and you could sell them in the U.S. You could sell 1,000's if you priced them well below the SA ones.

Didn't I tell all of you not to buy ONE ?

But buy TWO instead !!

That's why I kept pushing all of you off yer butts :D to snap these up while YOU can. Me ? I don't even own ONE .... It would never get used, I compete with an AR and an M700 Sniper platform. yuk yuk yuk

Peace be to journey!

Is this verified 100%? Are there no NOS Chinese M14s in the pipeline?

If the answer is yes ~ values on existing rifles on both sides of the border will climb.

no doubt, thats why i ordered two.

the price for a M14S sold by marstar has not changed in over a year, thats how long we had to wait between shipments and yet the price rose to a high as $550 on EE during this period , members still paid higher bcos they didnt know when the shipment will arrive so what will they pay next time when they know there is no more shipment to come ? hhmmmm.

ASSYRIAN;
OK lets say we bring the tooling here, would you contract to provide the material and the work force for what we currently pay in China ??

While we are at it would you handle the contract for the mags while you are at it....?

Better yet, how about we simply sign a contract with you at an agreed price and you handle the minor details listed above ?? I will even let you use our manufacturing license

Who would you contract to provide the material and the work force for what we currently pay in China ??

NOT POSSIBLE. I AGREE

While we are at it would you handle the contract for the mags while you are at it....?

Ummm??.........

Give me a few days...hahah maybe a month....:)

I will even let you use our manufacturing license

Nice........but all the profit is mine right??

I never said it would be easy... I agree it would increase the price.....The costs are night and day.... But you, I, would have a big market.

ASSYRIAN;
I really appreciate your enthusiasm for the matter....

BUT after spending as many years as I have in the international arms trade there are many realities that will set in....

While you are calculating the take over of the US market dont forget to get US State Dept and the BATF approval for the rifles and the mags.

Don't forget the federal excise tax on imported firearms going into the US....

While we are at it, you will need a heavy liability insurance policy in place for the rifles but that should only cost $15-$20. per rifle.... Once approved for insurance

Other than that its a cakewalk, 1-2 years of paperwork and voila.... You are in business....

So what? if M14S is out of stock. then either I'm gonna buy USGI M14 or change to another toy (AR or so). No big deal

usgi m14 is a c/a only- you need a 12(3) - OR BETTER YET , WE NEED A CHANGE IN THE ACT- i'm tired of my wisemen ( yea, they're jewish) being SAFEQUEENS- you may get a m1a from the states, but you certainly won't get a usgi m14- however i've noticed there seems to be a few individuals that are less than pleased with their purchases for one reason or another and have them listed on the e&e lately- or perhaps they're looking for something else and shouldn't have bought in the first place

x2...and you can go for the AR platform, but 5.56 NATO is nothing like 7.62 NATO...

I think I need to place an order too if I'm not too late.
