What upgrades are a must have? Glock

Well, I have a Glock g17 and a 48 coming. Ordered extra mags as well. ...

Get trained! Take a course or 2.
Buy lots and lots of ammo. Get out and practice.
Compete in local / regional and national competitions!...

Aside from extra magazines (which you wisely already got), as Hungry says above, the only things you need for your Glocks are ammunition, range time, and training.

Once are those are paid for, you can decide for yourself if the farkles will add anything to your shooting. ;)

And if you do want to compete, you're going to need holsters suitable for your discipline.

Glocks slogan isnt "perfection; once you add a handful of unnecessary parts to it".

The sights are vulnerable if dropped. They mushroom and smush a little bit. Everything else is rock solid.

Firstfishman & Novega are correct. There is nothing to dislike about one of the BEST pistols ever created. GLOCKS are King, offer great accuracy, fair cost, incredible durability, and can easily out perform many higher cost guns.
Stock up on ammo. Practice. Become intimate with your Glock, know it inside & out, and Practice.

Sorry have to say it. Best upgrade for a Glock is to trade it in for a 1911.

Trust me, Glocks werent my first go to gun. But, stock, time, money... no Desert Eagle for me.

All kidding aside, I had fired Glocks before at walk in ranges, so it was more familiar to me. I like the aftermarket support, appealing.

Sights, but not necessary if you don't know how to shoot. Extended mag release and extended slide release IF you have trouble reaching them. The trigger on the 48 is pretty good stock. And most importantly, as others have said; ammo AND training.

This !!

Don’t buy anything else than magazines and ammo for now. Shoot the damn thing stock, compete in local competion and with friend at the range. When you go at the range, show up with a rough idea of what you want to accomplish in this session or a detailed plan. Work one thing at the time and remember that speed will come later. You gotta walk before you drive a rally car in the wood at 100 km/h. You need to drive in an empty parking lot before :p

And then…

Everything else is up to your personnal preference. I shoot my Glock 19 with an OEM extended mag release, finger grooves removed (that was a game changer), some cruedly applied grip tape. You will buy stuff, try it, sell some, keep some, upgrade some, mod some. Thats the name of the game

Train train train and…

Have fun :)

The only must have upgrade IMO is better sights, and nights sights are my preference. I'm happy with the Meprolights, Tirijicon, and Ameriglos I've had on mine, availability and price are the important factors.

Oh and definitely more mags, OEM Glock 10/17 are worth every penny if you can find them.

Ammo, ammo, ammo.

Any recommendations for a holster?

Have a both a Gray Fox Strategic and a Safariland that I’m happy with. Safariland is obviously a very well known quantity and makes a solid product. Gray Fox is Canadian and a relatively new company, but are highly responsive and awesome to deal with.

Never had anything by Solely Canadian myself, however several friends have been very happy with their products.

Sights (get rid of the plastic fantastic) and RDS if you want to go that route.

Magazines.... lots.

Another identical Glock for spare parts... that you'll probably never need but 2 is 1....

Holster.

Then shoot the hell out of it.
