PAL Wait Time

Just got back from my local gun club, and word going around is that the feds are the ones that are holding up sending New Pal - RPal applications to local CFO's.
which we all need to call the CFO and make sure that they are sending your file, as the RCMP was told my Liberals to hold back New Applications & Transfers.
Local Gun club transfer times up to 2 months. But good news once Pierre is voted into the Conservative Party, heard that he wants to calls for a No Confident Vote is Fall.

Ontario update:

Sent application April 26, 2022. Now July 4th, still no credit card charge.

Personal accounts are so varied... some people get their licesnce in under 5 months. Others it takes 9....

Ive been checking my credit card for a charge everyday for a month now. Anyone else similar dates?? and situation?

Ive called many times. The lady just says its expected to be a long delay. Nothing to worry about... Please hooooooooooooooooold...

Maybe I can help on what to expect because I sent my application on march 1 or 2nd, and they received it by march 4 and I didn’t get a credit charge till May 28 and then I haven’t heard anything except the generic message online. I did call the other day and asked what’s going on. If They need any other information that can help speed it up. They said no everything’s good on my app they don’t need any other information that it’s sent on to my CFO in bc. I’m thinking since I applied for pal/rpal with all the new rules, trying to be put in, it might end up taking longtime because they’re probably wondering if they should give me both or pal only since there won’t be any use of rpal of the law comes into affect. (Just guessing)

Also, when I called the lady she told me that it’s in the final stages I don’t know really what that means. I asked her. What does it mean? She said its in progress basically so final stage i Guess means in progress or with the cfo. No references have been contacted.

I’m sure it’s a #### show with all this new Legislation.

I would wait maybe a month and then call and I called earlier in the morning that’s the only time I got in contact with them.

I’m stuck wondering if I were to be denied would it still take this long because I did have run ins with police nothing major just some weed was found and Highschool fight 12 years ago I’m hoping if I’m going to be denied it wouldn’t take this long.

BC CFO requires club membership, I think. If you haven't provided proof of membership with the application it may be a reason for delay. Otherwise, who knows.

Just spoke to Alberta CFO, just to inquire and the nice lady was saying she has to resign my case back to cfo
And she asked me what range I was apart of, told her, but she could not say why she had to reassign back my file to the cfo.
Wonder if they are starting to hold back on approving new applications.

I called back to confirm things here and yeah, sure enough, there are no outstanding notes for the "yes" pieces and my references haven't been called. I suppose the letter I sent in with my application explaining my yes answers was very convincing. The agent assured me it was nearing completion and that it shouldn't be much longer. I know they say that to everyone, so hopefully this time they mean it and I'm not going to be caught in a pattern of being told "It'll be coming soon, promise!" each time I call lol

Any updates on this? I'm curious about how they're treating those of us who have answered yes to something in section C.

Not great. About 9 months now. Received Dec 6, charged Jan 18, sent to CFO around March 18. Still being reviewed.

I was able to get through to the CFO line a little while ago and it was pretty frustrating. The agent reiterated that there were no notes or outstanding pieces on my application so it should be done soon. I told her very politely I'd been getting told that for months but it feels like something is wrong, and nobody is giving me any information on how I can remedy it. That I can't resolve an inadequacy in my application if nobody tells me about it.

She expressed that she understood and that she'd leave a note for the person assigned my application to contact me about it. She admitted, it had been in their hands for an awful long time for no notes to have been left about the file. That was about a month ago.

On the other hand, I haven't heard from my MP's office in awhile either. At our last contact they were expressing how frustrating it was because the Alberta CFO was just absolutely ghosting them. I won't bother them though unless they have an update, they're swamped with more important immigration stuff.

I don't mind that my application warrants additional attention, but it seems like that isn't what's happening. If they haven't even opened the application to say "Hrm this doesn't look good I need more notes from their doctor" after nearly half a year, I'm not optimistic about this getting done anytime soon despite being told optimistically no notes is good news for an application with personal history boxes checked.

Dam, that is crazy, I was on the phone with the CFO Alberta and I was told that they had to resign my file again which makes no sense, and I ask if you can please rerate, she could not....

That's so frustrating. I'm sure they think they're being helpful when they tell people things like this but "resign your file again" means nothing to people who aren't working for the CFO.

Ontario PAL and RPAL update

Application received January 28
CC charged April 6

Still nothing but crickets. It's obvious that this is a concerted effort to throw a bucket of gasoline and a match, on an already broken system. Mark my words, the Liberals are just getting started. Soon, they will stop issuing new licenses and then stop renewals. They will ban all guns including the little single shot .22 that you have had since you were a kid. They will ban all forms of hunting and recreational / sport shooting. And that includes bow hunting. And to everyone who thinks that there will be an election soon, forget about it. They have 3 more years of power, and they are going to hang on to every single second of it.

Sorry for the rant. Good luck to everyone.

7-April-2022 - My PAL and RPAL application was received
7-July-2022 - Credit Card charged
Website still say: Initial application review has been completed.

I sent my paperwork in on March 2nd for my RPAL, I already had my PAL. My CC was charged three weeks later for the processing fee. My new card was in my mailbox on July 19th. None of my references were contacted either.

Tried to logon to rcmp personal web portal, looks like the rcmp site is down.
Must of gotten over loaded with new applications and transfers. lol

No you don’t need to belong to a gun club/range to get a RPAL. You need it to purchase/acquire a restricted firearm (with exception of Ontario).

It might take longer because they have to look closer at those run-ins. Fingers crossed though it will be an approval in the end.
