45lc

Oh boy…. Not that again……there never, ever was cartridge case made called 45 LC. Colt’s classic Single Action Army revolver was chambered in 45 Colt. Colt’s 1873 SAA & every subsequent revolver they made has never, ever been listed or engraved, stamped or advertised in 45LC.
There never, ever was a 45 short Colt 45. 45LC is an insidious abberation bastardisation of 45 Colt from the last century. Ahhhh…..

I know what you're saying, and you're right, but it's not going to go away. I have a Pietta and it's marked 45 LC. You would think they would know better as they're trying to make a true to form clone.
At least the reloading manuals list it properly, for now.

Who care ? We all know which caliber and round it is, be 45 Colt or 45 Long Colt.
It does not matter, there is no confusion with any other round. So it’s of no consequence except to purist and word’s police.

For the OP, get a reloading manual. Load from the internet are not to be trusted, ever.

oh boy , not one of you guys again. im so so sorry i didnt just call it .45 COLT. thanks for contributing nothing but a waste of time wow

Where can I get me some of dem thar bullets to shoot? The 45 Long Colt ones like A used to buy at Canadian Tire. Just put 'em in the gun and shot until the revolver clip was empty...

[/TRIGGERED]

I thought the 30 round, fully automatic clips were outlawed.

Because I'm 'that guy' I actually have long guns and handguns that use clips.
My OCD pet peeve is the usage of the word 'Hydrostatic' when folks describe what happens when the bullet contacts a non rigid target...fessing up right now, lol.
We all have it.
Our fellow member is OCD about the term 45 LC... I can forgive that, minor glitch.

The hairs stand up on the back of my head when people refer to firearms as “weapons”. They are a tool. Anything is a weapon once you intend to injure or kill a person or animal with it. Is every knife a weapon? I have heard all the “they’re designed to kill” arguments and my answer is to ask if even firearms designed for sport shooting should be classified as a “weapon” if it was specifically designed for sport shooting and not for combat or hunting? As the modern left have repeatedly tried to teach us, words do matter.

45 Long Colt = 45 Colt
45 Short Colt = 45 ACP (automatic COLT pistol)
This is the way I differentiate them....who cares what they are called

OP...
I have references in Speer #12, Lyman #48 and Hornady #3 for 250 gn using 2400, but they are all jacketed or plated...and some recommend using magnum primers.
For what it is worth, I have used jacketed data for lead bullets as a starting point, going low and slow

I use those 45 Long Colt loads since more than 40 years in all my Colt SAA's, Ruger Redhawk/Vaquero's, Winchester 92's without any problems. Smooth and fun to shoot. Loads for Ruger Blackhawk and Redhawk can be safely cranked up that someone can found in the Speer Reloading Manual number ten page 397. h ttps://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/powderlist.aspx?page=/reloaders/powderlist.aspx&type=1&powderid=9&cartridge=36

I'll be that guy. The differentiation between 45 long colt and 45 short was between the 45 Colt and 45 Schofield, both of which the US Army used during the 1870's, when this came about. - dan
