I was given the shotgun in the title with the intention of restoring it. I cleaned off the surface rust and the grime of the finish and it is starting to look pretty good. I do not know much about this gun except that is was made in Montreal in the 1860's. It appears complete except it is missing both nipples. Can anyone provide me information on this gun and in particular, the size of nipples and where I may get them. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Have you examined the bottom of the barrels at the breech? Bet there are Birmingham proof marks.
You are an awful lot closer to the gun than I am, but the nipple threads might be 1/4-26. You are going to have to measure. You could gently try a 1/4-28 tp, see if it turns in easily. You might get lucky.
A tapered round of hardwood could be screwed in and the diameter and screw pitch measured.

almost all of the european muzzle loaders that I have seen and/or owned were 26 tpi although diameters varied significantly. the 26 tpi corresponds to a metric pitch of either .7 or 1.0 mm (can't remember which) I have often had to chase out the threads to get to solid metal and then make a corresponding nipple to fit
