Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Ontario Transfers

My very rough estimates based on a tiny bit of data we have
5900000 = Mid September
5920000 = Late November
5940000 = Early February 2023
5960000 = Early May 2023
5980000 = Early June 2023

Guns bought today will be approved sometime in September of 2023 at the current rates.

I'm not a statistician, just a guy with a little bit of data and a trendline. Obviously not written in stone, a rough guide

I'm hoping once the first two weeks of June are done it'll pick up again.

This sounds accurate in my eyes, I have bought a few over the last month and my ref# line up and it seems that's how long we'll have to wait.

One of the site sponsors were offering a service where they would complete the transfers online for $45. Does anyone know who that is? I can't find it anymore.

Are the phones horribly backed up again? I called a transfer in on the 18th of July. Me and the other party got through on the first try with a maybe 5 minute wait

Just received 5892. Jun 1 - Aug 11

Initiated June 1st, received Aug 12th 8:51am
Ref: 58930xx

To keep my excitement to a reasonable level, I'm going to assume the lowest possible completion rate.... that the 5892### was a high number (like 5892995) and the 58930XX was a low number (like 5893005). I can still optimistically hope that my 58941XX should be here by the end of next week. Might book off Thursday or Friday for a range day...

Don't bother. You won't get the registration certificate for a few weeks after the transfer.

May 31-Aug 10. 72 days

What's your number (less the last 2 digits if you want some privacy)

I'm hoping once the first two weeks of June are done it'll pick up again.

The first two weeks of June are going to take months if this is any indicate. The week of June 6th is something like 1/4 - 1/3 of all the transfers in the queue.

just for fun (and everyones reference point) i just last hour recieved a fresh reference number: 5994*** (person-person). I guess it might be a nice xmas present....

this great chart from nicolas supports one of the comments above that after the early surge sales are cleared, hopefully the remainder will clear at a "faster daily" rate. (application dates will appear to move faster, but it will be becuase there were fewer applications on those later dates)

Be nice to see another completed private-to-private number as they appear to be moving on a different stream from the business to private.

Sorry i may have misled you, this was just an application for transfer completed this morning. It will surely be many many months until the transfer is approved and a TAN issued.

To clarify the process, It is a fact that the CFC issues the transfer reference numbers sequentially, nationally. First come first served.

I think the only reason there is some variation in the current number being reported processed by members is that processing is completed by the CFO office IN THE BUYERS PROVINCE. It's conceivable that smaller provinces with fewer citizens (and thus fewer transfers) see quicker processing. (though one could also suspect there might be less resources at the CFO office in those provinces). For provinces where the RCMP provides CFO function, who knows....but it is probably a separate office with separate staff since RCMP divide the country into divisions, which in some cases correlate with provincial borders.

I don't think business vs indiviudal has anything to do with which is processed. Each CFO just takes the next buyer in their province in the list.

The big win for business is that they can use the web portal for transfers, whereas indivuidals must call (or send in the paper transfer form).

If future posters also state the province they are in when they report a completed transfer number, we should see a trend develop.

Umm I hope you’re not referring to Christmas this year cause I think you might be 1 year off estimation wise..
