Just picked up a mcgowen cz barrel for pretty cheap (sub $150), never been used.

Anyone know anything about these? Quality? It has a bentz chamber 1:16 twist
Not a lot of info online about them, lots of people seem to use their 10/22 barrel

I got one but found the accuracy no better than the factory.
Used it in Speed Steel but it had more FT Eject and Extract.
Perhaps there were insufficient tests of different ammunition but Speed Steel does not require Match grade.
Should it be redeployed, Match Ammo would be a good starting point.

Lapua CenterX (lot test of course) has worked very well for us.

SK rifle match can also do a nice job but we use this for closer distance needs.

will do some testing with Lapua XACT when it arrives.

If not happy, give me a shout and we can figure out a replacement. Thanks

What do you think of the bentz chamber vs a match chamber? Thought I’d try this barrel considering what I paid for it..if it doesn’t improve over factory I’ll definitely be upgrading.

Any luck with eley ammo? Center x seems to be sold out everywhere in my area

As a dealer for SK/Lapua, that is where I have the experience. For PRS games, the chamber has worked very well for us. If you want a Benchrest set up, then I would go with a tighter chamber. Always a compromise between peak accuracy and function... and the ammo you are going to use.

given the lack of ammo supply, I am now using a tuner to try and make whatever I can find work.
