After extensive google searches and numerous emails to various suppliers big and small I have had ZERO success in sourcing soft point bullets (either 100 or 110gr) to reload for M1 carbine.

Has anyone stumbled across any anywhere at all? Seems like all that's out there is FMJ.

Thanks,

If you don't mind reducing velocities a bit, the 110grn Hornady V-Max work quite well in the 30M1, as do the flat base spire point 125 grain offerings

I've even used the .310 diameter 123 grain offerings, intended for the 7.62x39 with good success as far as accuracy and feeding goes.

Just be careful when working up the load.

What COAL are you using? Mind sharing any load data and why reduced loads?

I load them long enough to fit into the magazine with just enough room not to hang up.

As for load data, I'm reluctant to share it. The only M1 Carbine I have left has a custom barrel and very tight chamber.

I will say that for 123gr .310 13.5 grains of 1680 was a great place to start

The biggest problem with good soft point or spire point bullets for the handy little carbine is availability, as you've found out.

I've had M1 Carbines in the past with .309 and .310 bore diameters, that were brand new in the grease.

The problem with this little cartridge, is it's maximum 40k psi operating pressures. With the powders available, that can easily be exceeded.

If you go this route, please work up your loads carefully.
