I know someone here put an AR buffer spring in their JR, but I can't remember who. If you see this, please chime in as I've got questions. :)

Recently did that swap on my JR. The AR spring is longer than the JR spring. With it installed, I can only lock the bolt open if I force it back. So, I put the AR buffer in place of the JR buffer as the AR one is shorter. Of course, it is also substantially lighter. Now the bolt can be locked open as normal, but I'm concerned about the weight difference of the buffers. Will the lighter buffer/stiffer spring operate properly, or should I put stock parts back in?

Normal AR buffers are too light for a blowback PCC.
Why did you feel the need to monkey with the buffer system on a JRC? The only way to make the gun shoot even smoother would be to make the buffer even heavier (at some point it won't cycle reliably if you go too heavy).
Put the stock parts back in.

It wasn't so much to make it "smoother" but to beef up the spring to close the bolt faster. I've had 2 instances of what could be firing out of battery, and was trying to prevent a 3rd. The heavier spring made sense, while the lighter buffer did not so I thought I would ask the brain trust as there are lots of experienced shooters here.

Go to: Home/replacement parts/rubber bumper & nylon disc for butt stock.
The buffer is on the same page. $4.00 bumper, $20. for the buffer, 2020 price...

I spoke with JRC recently as I had issues with a new JRC carbine.

JRC currently ships with the 40 cal buffer in the 9mm carbine.

It also currently ships without the white plastic disk, just with the rubber bumper.

I ordered a 9mm buffer (old style) and it is significantly shorter and lighter, and has a completely different profile. Haven’t had a chance to take it to the range yet so can’t really report on whether there is a significant difference in either recoil or function.
