I recently upgraded my Shadow 2 with the Eemann Tech spring upgrade kit. Works flawlessly shooting 9mm but when I swap the slide to the Kadet I'm having numerous FTF (i need to either pull the trigger again or #### the hammer and then it will fire). I know it's likely the hammer spring having been lightened and now not strong enough to strike the firing pin to ignite the primer/case.

Any options other then changing the hammer spring back?

Thanks for your time

First did your shoot the Kadet slide prior to the spring kit? If so and it was fine than IMO not really. Do you know what strength Eemann tech hammer/main you installed? As you know super easy to swap back to a stronger one. Unfortunately it means picking one or the other for each range trip rather than switching slides once there.
I installed the full Cajun kit in one of my Shadow 2’s. Trigger pull on stock mainspring was 10.5 lb. With the 13 lb Cajun it was 9.0 lb and with the 11.5 lb Cajun it was 7.5 lbs.

The Kadet slide would have been designed to work with the factory mainspring.

As an aside are you shooting factory 9mm? Federal primers? Do you have an extended firing pin in the 9mm slide? Light spring kits on the Shadow can result in light strikes on harder CCI primers.

Thanks for the reply. Yes fired with no issues prior to spring upgrade. The kit came with all the bells and whistles (extended firing pin etc)

IMO that’s got to be the problem with the Kadet. I’m just guessing but I doubt you could get a reduced power firing pin spring for the Kadet. Swapping back a stronger mainspring for Kadet shooting may be the only answer.

You must have a really nice DA trigger pull with the 8 lb. Did the Eemann discon reduce the DA take-up? Do you have some minor trigger creep past the wall before the break?

DA trigger pull is close to 6lb and SA is 2lbs. As far as trigger creep i will need to check lol. Only been out twice since the kit was installed.

Enjoy! Mine after the Cajun including the sear and competition hammer with the 11.5 main is DA 6.5 and SA 2.75. Super clean break and fun to shoot. I don’t compete just like a really nice action.

Fyi, the Eemann 8lb mainspring is equal to about an 11-12lb spring from Cajun and others. It’s the one spring rating that is out to lunch. The Eemann recoil spring is rated properly.

No way to avoid changing the hammer spring back in order to use kadet 22lr kit.
I have tried almost all the recommendations I can find from internet, some improvements but not completely eliminating light strike.
With manufacturer spring , its 100% reliable.
The good news is that changing hammer spring is pretty easy, literally 2 minutes job

That is good to know.

I just picked up a Kadet kit (and a new Shadow) so I will try it in my new unmodified Shadow with the factory springs (will give it a try in my modified Shadow with lighter springs but it dont sound like it will work too well)

22 are notoriously harder to get good ignition with than centerfire ammo. You will need to go up to probably a 13lb hammer spring to get good ignition.

Thanks for clarifying. That’s what I figured when he said his DA was 6 lbs with the Eemann 8 lb. Mines 6.5 lb with Cajuns 11.5.

Slavex is a CZ Guru. We all learn from him regarding CZ upgrades, tweaks, tips and tricks. I also have a Kadet Kit for my CZ 85 Combat and CZ 75 SP01 Shadowline, both takes my conversion kit with a very minor adjustment. Both pistols were upgraded with reduced hammer springs, extended firing pin. With the conversion kit, I had misfires on Singe Action, but a follow up double action will ignite the loaded round. Installing the stock Mainspring will do the trick.

Safe shooting!
