Gunpowder shipping Cabela's

If you are even a little bit out of the way they want big money to ship anything through a courier.
Cabela's or the courier? Courier quotes the price and Cabela's downloads the cost of shipping to the customer. At least that is the way it use to work.

I ordered some ammunition and all was well until I got an email asking for more money, $175... Cabela's wasn't willing to eat the extra cost. I don't know how the interaction between the two went. They did specifically mention my address was too rural.

Purolator is basically the only shipping option for ammo powder or Primers. The issue is that they contract out their work to basically every town and city but the biggest and their contractors don't ship that stuff. My last order from cabelas it came on a pallet in a transport I was not charged extra at the time but it took 2 months to show up and I live in a city of 70,000 its just a complete cluster F! My last handgun is sitting at Tenda approved and in my name but they won't ship it because again shipping is being denied so another cluster F of stupidity.

Just order lots of powder, get a buddy to order some too, and drive to a store to get it. Save on gas. Ships free to the store for pick up.

I don't understand. Its only 4.5 hours each way to a store and you get to go through beautiful downtown Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe.....(joke)

After months of searching I found some h4350 online at Cabela's.

They only had a pound in stock but I still jumped on the order. Few days later I get this email, 200 plus dollars for shipping. Is this normal??

Yes unfortunately it is normal, and it is a bizarre business model. Its been that way at Cabelas for several years now. Nobody I know has Cabelas ship powder because of this infamous shipping rip-off price. Cabelas is missing out on a business opportunity to ship power at reasonable costs to reloaders. I and everyone I know where I live (2-day round trip drive to nearest Cabelas) buys powder and has it shipped at reasonable prices from "normal" stores, many of which are good sponsors here at CGN.

Meanwhile I have been searching over a year now to find any H-4350. I have to wonder what has happened to the basic laws of supply and demand, and the free market system. Theory would suggest that the continuous demand for H-4350 would stimulate the market and manufacturers would be making alot of it. It does not makes sense to me.

Anyways I decided to switch to Vihtavuori and give up on Hodgdon powders altogether. I placed my pre-order for N-540 and N-550 back in February....still waiting...... :(
