Leica/Leupold Laser Rangfinders..............

Leica CRF 1200 - a beauty. At least $300 cheaper than the Swar, a lot lighter and mine worked like a dream on a 600 yard WT broadside. Much brighter than the Leupold. Haven't given it a run in lousy weather yet - we'll see how it does in sleet/snow/fog, whatever. But then again, if that's the weather how can you see anything to range it???

Well I got the Leica 10x42 with the rangefinder & unless I can find a Leica dealer that will fix the not under warranty after a year rangefinder I will be there worst nightmare.

Just got my Swarovski Laser Guide 8x30 and man I've got my new favorate toy:D

Ordered it from Camera Land on the 25 and just got it today. Ordered the demo model and you cannot tell it was ever touched. Really looking forward to this years shooting season and the hunt this fall. Will have pics up shortly

Sorry I am missing your point. Are you having a warranty problem and want a dealer to fix it (I doubt any dealer would be able to repair this), or are you wanting Leica to extend their warranty because the warranty period has run out. I believe that Leica USA will repair this unit after one year...you would just have to pay for this service. Phil.

thanks guys for pointing out the Swarovski 8x30 Laser Guide demo at camerland. Couldn't find the same thing anyplace I looked for under $1000 in Canada.

Waiting for it in the mail as we read.

I have a CRF 1200 and love it. Compact and powerful and I paid less than $450 for it :)

here it is next to a 280 Rem shell for reference

Leica

I have the CRF 900,and have had no problem ranging elk at 650yds.(I haven't tried farther than that yet!).That's good enough for me. Mur

I just ordered my Swarovski Laser Guide 8x30 from Camera land today. The Demo one was $729. Compared to $1100 everywhere else in Canada. That's not bad :D. It was only $80 more than what my local shop was charging for a brand new CRF 1200 (Good thing I just picked up another overtime shift).

While I'm sure I would have been happy with the Leica, I have to admit the Swarovski puts an even bigger smile on my face. I tried out both at the local store. The glass on the Leica is very good, but the Swarovski was even better.

Now lets just hope it ranges as well as all the reviews.

Skullboy,
I skipped over the 4 pages rather than reading all the predictable comments. I have a 1200 LRF Scan which I was issued and I am totally confident in it's abilities. This unit has the ability to change from yards to metres which from what I understand the more compact one does not. In my opinion it is one of the best out there, but of course in this day of technology, every 2 days someone is coming out with something what they claim of course is better.

Well the Swarovski, Laser Guide 8x30 arrived today.

Perfect clear day to check them out. Ranged a couple of cattle at 1329yds. INCREDIBLE.

I don't think it would pick up a deer at that range but, they are rated for 1500yds.

The optics are crystal clear but I'll still cary my binoculars.

I was surprised to find that I was hit for pst and gst though.

Tried them against a Bushnell 600 yardage pro, no contest. The optics on the Bushnell, though acceptable, don't even compare. The range on the Bushnell poops out around 575 yds. There is virtually no difference in sight readings though and I wouldn't feel hard done by if the Bushnells were what I had. Out to 575yds anyway.

Just orderd the demo swaro rangefinder from camarealand and the pentax 65mm ed spotting scope. For the guys that have ordered the rangefinder demo how good was the condition of it? The price of these items were 729.99 for the swaro and 499.99 for the spotting scope not bad at all, cant wait to test them.

Did the same thing a few months back. The Swaro came new in box from what I could tell.

The Pentax ED spotting scope will be a treat IF you don't wear glasses. The eye relief on the zoom is the pits for eyeglass wearers.

I sent it back and swapped in the more expensive zoom from the 80mm version. Still not fantastic but head and shoulders better. Clarity at mag beyond 40X is much better too. Well worth the extra money.

Using the new eyepiece, I am able to make out the bark texture on a Pond Pine tree at 2000yds ranged with my Swaro.

A great combination for LR shooting.
