My dream rifle right now would be a FN action in 257 Roberts in an English style stock with nice marble like colouring. I have the action, just need to send it to someone like Chris to have the work done.

If I was going with a Euro FN action, I'd go with a Euro chambering like 6.5x57 or 7x57.

I really like the 257R, but it's an American cartridge, not Euro. Just sayin'.

I think a nice 30 378 Weatherby in a 5.5 to 5.75-pound rifle would be interesting.

One of Al Biesen's customs on a pre 64 would suit me fine, or something by D'Arcy Echols. Both way above my pay grade though but the design/specs are something to aim at in my working man rifles!

It's a 7x57, aka .275 Rigby. The biggest issue is that it turned out heavier than intended.

What does that rifle weigh?

Considering I have safes full of magnums, now live in such close cover, tiny deer/huge black Bears.

Probably already covered by my Jm Marlin 45-70. How about a Big Horn Armory Model 89/90, not sure of model #. The big heavy lever carbine that's a cross of a 1886 and 1892, in 460 s$w. Not the 500 s$w, the 460 since it will also shoot 454 Casull and 45colt.

Pre Covid, they were something like $4500, and unobtainium. So if I'm dreaming, go big.

Does seem a bit portly. Probably the wood. Mine is 8lb 2oz with the 2.5-8.

You could always restock it in a Wildcat and use that stock for your 30-06 project.
