I just got a used Winchester Sxp field and the action locked up tight on it when i put it together. Won’t cycle won’t do anything can’t get the barrel off took the trigger group out and that didn’t do anything
Any ideas? Or should I just toss it into the lake because it’s junk?

Try to force things to where it should go. Turkish made shotguns are junk. I find the sxp to be the least junky. If you break it more while forcing just sell it as broken and never buy another turkish shotgun

Was the action open or closed when you tightened down the barrel nut?
When you try to remove the barrel I'm assuming that you can remove the nut but not pull the barrel off, is this correct? I don't have an SXP in front of me to examine but I suspect that you've tightened down the barrel nut with the action closed and have jammed it in there.

You bought a used gun without checking it out first?

I have seen Winchester pumps assembled incorrectly where the long ejector jammed up and had similar problems as you describe. The barrel will come off though... try harder.

Nothing really inherently wrong with the SXP.

Once the trigger group is out, the breach will be unlocked and free to move back. When it moves back the locking bolt should rotate and come out. Then barrel slides out easily.

On your gun, is the breach still locked up to the barrel?

This is another of those threads where the op posts a problem... several posts follow and the op does not respond...

Thanks for the replies I will poke away at it I got it off the forum here
Even with the trigger group out it still won’t cycle or anything
Action is wide open and I can’t get the barrel to budge and action is locked up solid
I tried to get it to unlock the action and get the barrel off and nothing it’s no budging
I think I’ll probably just toss it in the lake and keep the choke tubes from it and use them in my bps
Winchester said I could send it to the gunsmith they use but I’m not about to sink a pile of money into it

I’ll try to take some and post them the barrel looks like it’s sitting s,ightly crooked in the gun and that might be the problem
Any ideas on removing it

When the square breach block moves back, it rotates the locking lugs on the actual bolt inside the barrel extension. Maybe get a brass or wooden rod and then try to tap the block back.

The "action" is not open. Taking the trigger group out isn't it. When the action is open you can load cartridges into the chamber. Can you take pictures?

Ah well - Sounds like you assembled the shotgun with the action closed (ie bolt forward). Probably jammed, next step is a hammer or a gunsmith, your choice.

Update Jason at gunco fixed this shotgun for me there was a ring jammed in the wrong spot had nothing to do with anything I did took him 20 minutes to fix it
