Current component prices

When you get into it, it really is rocket science. I break it down into three areas. Internal ballistics, inside the chamber where it goes bang, external ballistics, as it flies, and terminal ballistics , where it does its work. There is considerable attention paid to number two, the holes in paper. All three are important.

I initially got into reloading because I was shooting upwards of 10K large pistol rounds a year and at that volume it completely was worth it. Ultimately my main purpose for reloading was because I was tired of being dependent on the relatively inconsistent supply of ammo. Its honestly a priceless feeling knowing you I have enough components( at yesterdays' prices) for the next 30 years and pretty much have a reloading die, shot maker and bullet mould or two for every caliber you own and some you don't.

Is making your own bullets pretty common? what % of reloaders do you think do this? What's the main appeal? still consistency in supply or are there significant savings? Do you jacket them as well? And is working with lead indoors hazardous unless you invest in serious ventilation, or is there less airborne lead melting it compared to blowing it out of the end of a gun barrel lol
thanks

I know a lot of people who cast their own lead bullets. A much smaller number of people who make their own jacketed bullets, like single digits numbers. Both methods take specialised equipment, but casting is a fair bit easier (and cheaper). - dan
