Kodiak Defence WK 180 Gen 2

If you want to argue about the economy, go to the f*cking politics section

Everyone is triggered today. Did starbucks up their prices or something?
you know, you can bring your own pumpkin spice and save $1.25 on your soy latte. If that doesn't cheer you up, well I just give up.

I don’t know man but painkillers (blue pill red pill moment) and his Sig line , was pretty good. Gave me a few deep thoughts.. lol

And I just ordered a KD gen 11, the one I held seemed solid enough and no slop between the upper and lower. That’s a +

I admit I succumbed to the fomo and bought a Gen 2 today. Man these things are going like hot cakes. One store had already sold all 3 of theirs after I got the email notification of it being back in stock, but I was able to find two available in Montreal shorty after. I bought one, and the other one was gone in less than ten minutes!

Looks like the very similar situation here in Vancouver. Saw 9 on the web site Friday so I thought what the heck, head down and check it out. The store was packed. I bought the Magpul edition. Looked on the site today and they are not even listed. Sold out over the weekend.

Has anyone had issue with magazine retention on their gen 2? I got mine in April, I’ve got roughly 700 rounds through it, and the magazine catch has slowly allowed for more frequency of 2 issues; 1. Loose magazine, more frequently falling out entirely, I corrected the problem by winding in the magazine catch a couple turns, increasing spring tension. 2. Over insertion of magazines, pretty easy to do, I have to be somewhat “gentle” during reloading.

These are the only issues I have had. Everything else has been great.

Sterling Arms International brought a few of their R18s out to the DSSMatch this past weekend. VERY impressive craftsmanship. We blasted 1k rounds through the 2 models without a single hiccup. They're quite a bit more than the WK, but I think I would spend it to get something that runs!!!

Sucks they are so much. But the other 180s out there seem like they are complete garbage. The r18 is the price of a high end AR 15 so i would hope it performs like one

Yeah that is a major issue with these models- the magazine does not have a solid stop, the one I shot will not shoot prone off the mag without messing up. The original mag catch had a radius on the upper edge, I replaced it with a different catch and the mags hold reliably. I need a fix for the "over insertion" problem though.

has anyone tried to flip the bolt release so it faces forward? I feel like it would be easier for reloads, would it work?

I wondered the same thing -I purchased a release for a gen one, and it installs that way- I am not sure if you can flip it on the new ones or not-

On another note the mag "over-insertion" problem, that I experienced was related to a magazine type in combination with an ambi mag release- It seems to stay put with older metal mags.

WK180C Gen2 Piston Replacement on Ballistically Speaking Podcast's YouTube, https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2302960-WK180C-Gen2-Piston-Replacement-on-Ballistically-Speaking-Podcast-s-YouTube?p=19078703#post19078703:

From first post:
The Ballistically Speaking Podcast's YouTube channel has a video on replacing the WK180C's piston. The presenter noted in the video he had run several hundred rounds through, but not yet 1000. He had not cleaned his rifle, and Kodiak told him this was the likely cause of the break. The presenter noted in the comments the gas block was in alignment, and it's screws were tight. The presenter stated he will keep a spare piston with him when taking out the gun.

I guess the trick is to keep the gas block clean. Going to keep on top of mine when it shows up. Fingers crossed.

Also check to make sure your gas block screws are torqued, and that it is aligned properly. You may want to get to the TNA adjustable gas valve, so you can dial things down to less shake apart levels when shooting brass.
