Combo gun are they as great as I imagine?

you can put in one of the barrel an adaptator for 9mm,22lr or 357 less expensive.

combo are great if you have it in a bigger caliber like 7x65r, 9.3x74r.

Seriously? You’re not going to be shooting varmints like that. Combo guns are usually super accurate, not those adaptors

IMO an O/U Combo Gun in something like .22 hornet, .222 or .223 with a 12 or 20 ga. shotgun barrel would make the perfect "Truck Gun", ready for anything.

Might just as well reload some plinking load...

i was not thinking varmint but i ve seen the long adaptor used in drilling and it was working greatly enough for roe deer with a 222 one.

but you re right most of the combo are pretty super accurate.

Ok I thought we were talking about those cheap 20$ chamber adaptors, indeed the 1500$ German adaptor kits function well

I have used mine while moose hunting and have shot a couple moose with it over the years. One is a baikal 12/3006 and other started using is a 12/6.5x55 baikal. I like this one as it’s a lot lighter than 06 version

How is the trigger pull on the o/u baikal?

I had a SXS Baikal double and one time at the range I let a guy shoot it and he thought he hadn’t taken the safety off because the trigger pull was so heavy lol

Couple of Baikal o/u double rifles at intersurplus atm

I have a brono in 12ga 3.5" with 7x57 A.I. I call it my camp gun took me over a year to find it and think it great you have everything at close range covered.

3.5” wow, must be a newer model? What is the choke on it?

Just got back from the range with my Brno 304 7x57r over 12 gauge and at 100yards I got 2.25” group, not bad considering the bad trigger and my old 4x German #1 heavy post reticle! I’m not planning to use that gun past 150m anyway so it should be good enough!!

Anyone familiar with voere combo guns?

One that needs some love on intersurplus for what may be a good deal. If I remember correctly they were one of the first euro makers to use alloy receivers?

I kind of like mine Brno, wish I could find a combo in 9.3x74 and 12 or 16 gauge that would steel shot proof, it would be handy for ducks while hunting moose!

Can’t speak to the quality but FAIR and Rizzini (somehow related to FAIR I think?) both offer what you want and are available in Canada for relatively low prices. Any other euro maker should make one but it would be a matter of getting it.

My combo gun fantasies all seem to involve a canoe, moose and ducks or my old front yard deer, rabbits and grouse

Too bad I don’t own a canoe or live in northern bc anymore :dancingbanana:

I've used a Savage 24-H DL 22/20ga. since about 1967. Smoked a fair few Prairie Chickens, Ruffed Grouse and the odd Hungarian Partridge with it. Lots of skunks as well. I've never actually noticed whether the "regulation" was off or spot on, seeing as one barrel is a shotgun, but that's just me. If I could only keep one gun, that one would be it.
