I'm not sure that's excessive these days, but ask them to verify shipping cost, it'll probably come in for less. That's been my experience (for what that's worth).
 
I think their shipping calculator is just an estimate
last time I ordered from them i thought the shipping was high but ordered anyway and when i got my invoice when the shipment arrived the actual shipping was way less then what was originally calculated

Ah ok, thats good to hear. I know things are different nowadays but I just thought $38 was a bit steep for a red dot site shipped regular ground.
