Hi, I'm looking into buying a sterling arms .223 and I would like to see some peoples builds, and some advice if you have any wisdom to share about setting one up.

Is the apprent "magazine over insertion " issue present on the R18 as it (supposedly) is with other AR 180 platforms?

i cannot get any brand of magazine that I happen to have on-hand to over-insert into the Mag Well of the R18 Mk2. The Mag Catch engages the hole in the magazine and holds it securely no matter how hard and/or fast I insert the magazine;
I'm stuck between this and the templar with the ACR stock. I prefer the look of the Templar as well as the weight. But I think this may be the more reliable of the two... thoughts on those who have handled the R18
R18 is great. If you have extra coin buy it or wait and save. I just went through my first 100 rounds, and it ate everything. My groups were alright but im not the best shooter in the ammo box. The build quality is what I was impressed with and the takedown pins, and mounting rail. Also, my older WS-180 was legit purple in the sun because of the half-a** anodizing. Not that with the R18. You would have to hold onto one to appreciate it. Pictures won't do any firearm justice.
I haven't held the temp so i can't comment on it.
Thanks, How's the weight? 10lb for a 223 rifle seems excessive to me
The Ballisticly Speaking Podcast had an excellent interview with JR of the Shooting Edge about the Sterling R18MK2, https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2310017-Sterling-R18MK2-Interview-at-TACCOM-from-Ballisticly-Speaking-Podcast?p=19134255#post19134255, at TACCOM 2022.
JR said they were working on a shorter piston in the hopes of getting the original pencil barrel function without the accuracy issue. He also prefers the cleanliness of a piston over DI. Perhaps they could license some of the tech from the Tinck Arms Perun X16 gas tube to short piston tech to allow the use of a short piston near the rifle centre fed from a gas tube to help with the issue, https://www.forgottenweapons.com/innovative-and-interesting-tinck-arms-perun-x16/.
