Hey all just wondering if anybody could clear this up for me . In the new gun ban it says the mossberg 715 t tactical is banned . But the one I have just says 715t and looks nothing of the “ar” styling that the 715 t does when I google it . Looks more similar to the 702 plinkster . Is the 715 I have still fall under the ban and I can’t sell it or is it only the tactical looking one . Thanks

According to Armalytics the Mossberg 715T without the AR-15 type clam shell stock is non-restricted. The Mossberg 715T Tactical 22 and the Duck Commander which externally resemble the AR-15 are both affected by the ban.

I just looked it up and I didn't know this rifle exists. It looks like a 702 with a 715 Tactical magazine. I would think it's not affected because it does not look like an AR-15 or anything like the 715 T Tactical but I guess the law is open to interpretation.

There are many other makes of rimfire rifles that resemble an AR in looks only, why are they picking on the Mossberg when mechanically it is NOT an AR variant?

The other one affected by ban is the M&P 15-22 (Smith&Wesson) also 22LR semi-auto. Mechanically, it has nothing to do with the AR-15.

If the 715T guts is just a 702 mechanism, cant one just buy a 702 factory stock, or an aftermarket 702 stock and install the 715 action into the new stock? Or maybe it just doesnt pay.....

Does the receiver say 715T? If it does then its a 715T, regardless of the stock you put on it. Doesn't the 715 and 702 use different magazines?

At least that one was always considered an AR variant (and thus restricted long before the OiC), rather than becoming an AR variant upon release of the OiC like so many guns were...

Another thing the OP should be aware of: IIRC the 715T magazines have to be pinned to 10 due to the existence of a pistol that uses the same mags. (Although I'm not certain, because all the 7XX models from Mossberg are hot garbage IMO; I know a guy with a 702 and its the least reliable 22lr I've ever shot...)

The 715T comes in the AR clam shell stock and a regular stock. The clam shells is banned the regular 715t isn't. The 702 and 715use the same magazines just 715t are in a plastic shell.

This is a factory 715t non Clam stock. These pictures are from the USA so 25 round magazines.

I believe it's due to a pistol version available in the US, the 715P. TC

The 715 P was available in the states , then we got the 715 tactical and could use the 25 round pistol mags , but IRG imported the pistol into Canada and it became commonly available.
So that ended the 25 rnd mags.

I think the OIC was more about the pistol grip.lol

Not the first time IRG has done this! They screwed the Kriss Vector 30 round mags as well by bringing in a pistol version of the gun. What short sighted greedy mother effers IRG are ...
