B/E at deer hunt property near Thunder Bay Ont.

Tough to stop determined thieves as locks are only for honest people . A friend of mine had an A frame cottage that was subject to B/Es ; so he mounted heavy barred grates over the doors and windows to prevent entry . So some A hole took what we assume to be a 4 by 4 truck , attached chains to the two grated barred windows on either side of the front door , and ripped the whole front wall out of the front of his cottage . He repaired , and sold it . Three years ago , someone smashed through the gate to our gun club with a stolen car , drove it out onto the range , and lit it on fire , and took off . Neither crime was ever solved .

That tends to be the case with B&Es. I've never heard of police solving such a crime.
We had a break-in at our cottage and some old rifles were stolen.
RCMP suspected local tribes but nothing was ever done.

Its getting worse up here for that sort of thing. We just installed security cameras at the house.
I'm right in the area you have your property. I'll keep an eye as well, see if I cant find a welder.

There's a camp near ours that the members installed a "prairie gate" over a 6' deep ditch that was only strong enough for a person to walk across. Any vehicle trying to cross would end up deep enough that they'd need a tow truck to drag it out. Camp members knew where the secondary grates waere stashed. First members at the camp simply pulled the grates across the ditch and removed them when they left. It was a bit of a PITA,but,it kept the riff-raff out.

I have a recovery story, sort of. Woke up one morning at the camp site at Findlyson Point. Cooler gone.

Reported it to the Temagami OPP. They found, and we got it back, minus the wine and pastrami.

It hadn't gone far. Just some good ol' boys, out on a lark!:d

OPP told me there were a rash of break ins in the Dorian / Hurkett area this spring. Thanks for keeping an eye out and I have had no luck finding a mobile welder in the area.

The guy pickn berries is your primary suspect. Back to cover his tracks using "picking berries " as his excuse.

The camera was set to take 3 pictures and a 10 second video with audio. I just played the video and after he walked around the date you can hear him get in a vehicle and say "OK let's get out of here". Unfortunately that camera was not set at angle to capture beyond the gate, which I rectified. Will be checking it tomorrow.
