I'm curious - for those who live far from retailers selling powder and primers- what has your experience been with getting these item shipped to you?

Is the cost overly prohibitive?

Any particular retailer that has had good rates for shipping dangerous goods?

Who would you recomend....

Thanks!

.

I think it's a $15 HASMAT fee over and above the actual shipping cost to have primers/powders shipped via the appropriate courier.

Try Higginson Powder for both. Or you can always try Wholesale Sports for a last ditch effort if Higginson is out.

They both have the Hazmat Fee and will NOT ship both in the same package. SOOO separate pkgs and two hazmat fees.
I don't remember that !?
I thought they all came in the same shipments to me always, I have never seen two hazmat charges.
I may be wrong however, maybe it has soemthing to do with crossing the Quebec border?

primer and powder

:)I just got an order of varget and assorted primers from sir winipeg to edmonton there was only a $7 surcharge plus the regular shipping fees.quick resonable got what i wanted .would buy dg from them again.

Higginson Powder is a good choice. if you order over 20 pounds of powder they pick up the hazmat fee. about the only problem is that it comes via courier and if you don't have someway of getting it signed for or you can't get to the courier office it can be a pain but that ain't their fault :}

SIR is known to ignore Hazmat and shipping regs. Also I ordered some powder and primers from Epps and it came in the same box, one fee, and the courier left it on my doorstep.

I bought some powder from Higginson; unless you order a LOT it's not worth it IMO... I don't live in remote area so from now on will try to buy localy...

"...retailer that has..." The retailer doesn't set shipping prices. The carrier does that. In any case, there's really no comparison for shipping prices down here compared to what you pay for getting everything sent to you.

I got my 16lbs of powder and 3000 primers separate boxes and only 1 Hasmat fee as it was part of the same order. I believe the only reason they came in separate boxes was because the 2 jugs of powder came in their original sealed box from the manufacturer (packed in boxes of 2).

Pick up from the courier warehouse

Plus 2 on the pick up. after 3-attempts that did not work out between the driver and the time my son is home to sign for the incoming delivery of the various powder I ordered for my open gun, I ended up picking it up at the DHL warehouse after the final notice. Oh well... got my powder from Andrew tho. :):)
