Just received a complete Polly 80 glock 17 style lower from sask gun works, I figured I wouldn’t be able to get a glock anywhere in Canada and certainly not for a price I can afford so when these popped up I snatched one, I’d like to know other peoples experience with different uppers on these guns, I know they take gen 3 glock parts but is it worth it for me to source a complete factory glock upper or should I just go with something else, how easy is it to swap calibres in these frames I know I want to get a 9mm upper and a 22lr upper but I think a 40s&w would be fun to compare to my m&p, also I’m definitely going to do a “Gucci glock “ build one of these days anyone done it to a Polly 80 frame ? I’d love to see what you did, as always any information is appreciated

I built mine like that

Hot damn that thing is ###y, did you source everything in Canada or bring the parts up from the states

Slide is GFG Gen 3, Canadian-made. Barrel bought from RDSC, sights and upper slide kit are Trijicon and Poly80 that were bought from Blackbox Customs. So all sourced from domestic vendors :)

If you had started with a 40cal top end, you would only need a 9mm conversation barrel to get into 9mm, not sure if it works the other way around.
Any gen3 aftermarket 22cal top end will fit it.

I built a Poly 80 in 9 major with an RMR cut BBC slide KKM barrel and comp, and a Gucci trigger. Used it in a few steel challenge matches for $hits and giggles.

It works great but the pins start to walk after 100 rounds or so. Still looking for a solution for that.

Doesn’t have that issue if I shoot regular 9mm.

Put a little black nail polish on one head of the pin before you push it in, should stick.

Is it that simple? Get a 40 cal top end and slap a 9mm barrel into it and use 9mm mags ? No new springs or anything else? Is that the same for my m&p 40 I wonder?

I’ve been eyeing up their slides, what’s your overall opinion/review of it so far?

It's my first Glock build, so I don't have much experience to compare with, but I like it so far. High quality, good machining, tight tolerances. It required a break-in period for me, maybe 50-70 rds before it started cycling and ejecting reliably. I guess that's because of aforementioned tight tolerances. I did have to do some work on the ejector (from P80 upper parts kit), it was sitting way too tight, but GFG has a disclaimer that they designed it for stock Glock parts, so not the slide's fault.

I'm interested in this. My first outing with a new P80 was disappointing, stove pipes, fail to eject/extract. I went through 6 magazines and still didn't have a clean run. I've been working the slide while watching TV recently until I can make it to the range again. Please tell me it gets better!

What upper parts do you have on your P80 or is it a P80 Frame and upper?

It does get better with more rounds downrange. You may want to play with the recoil spring too, I bought an aftermarket stainless steel assembly with lower strength and I think that fixed most of the ftf/fte issues. I had a similar problem with a Shadow Systems pistol but they ship it with two springs out of the box, so I just swapped it to a weaker one. It's a lot of fun to shoot this pistol now, so both GFG and P80 are good in my books.

It's final state

I’ve been running a Poly80 fairly regularly in competition since last November and it has been absolutely reliable. I’m running a Brownells Gen3 RMR cut slide, with a Holosun 407 and Ameriglo Tritium co witness night sights, and an Alpha Wolf barrel. Love the ergonomics of the P80, so much easier to get a high tight grip on the pistol. I’m a little disappointed I only bought one lol
