I'm pretty sure that they are not used anymore. From what I hear a short 870 breacher is packed seperately.
i think that's the vulcan cannon (ie from the business end of the A-10) you're showing in that pic
I've seen the minigun at the dragonman machinegun shoot, and pictures of him with a backpack mounted rig, and see no reason not to believe it to be true.

Not really, 12ga breaching rounds put less stress on the aluminum platform than a .308 AR-10.
.308 AR10 is not acting directly on the foreend rail.

It's not on the C-More website (http://cmore.com/) but Small Arms Review has reported that it has been adopted and - it has been said - that it is to replace all other shotguns in inventory. (That's a lot of shotguns. We will see...but that is what has been said.)

The USMC has the aborted M104 Benelli (stock way to long for armoured up troops)
Most of the SOF guys around here have either short 870's or short 1187 stuff. Conventional Army has a mixed bag of Mossberg 590/500 series guns and Remington 870's -- I've seen one of the mag fed shotguns while out at Victory waiting for a flight.
As to what Armedsask pointed out -- the MCS rail simply clips to the M4 RAS system - which is not locked into the rest of the rail or the barrel nut - its just held by tension. It can work okay on the M4 RAS SAS lower rail (it locks into the bbl nut as it was a needed upgrade to mount the Hk AG/C on the L119A1 / C8SFW).
The best option of weapon lifespan is to mount the shotgun into the bbl nut so the steel can absorb the most force.
