Hello,

New reloader here trying to figure out options for primers, as having trouble finding them in any quantity.

I am loading for a tikka t3x stainless in 6.5 creed.

1. Any recommendations for where to get large rifle primers?

2. wondering if it is safe and viable to use large rifle magnum primers in place of large rifle. I seem to have an easier time finding these and see dimensions are the same.

Is this going to impact pressures or performance?

Thanks!

It may, but you can certainly use them. Just work up your loads. - dan

My 6.5 creed (bergara) loves magnum primers!
no issues using them but if your loads are around max with normal primers you should back your powder charge some and as was said work up your loads

Magnum primers are fine just work your way up. Some people fine they get better results with magnum primers in cold weather when used with powders not known for their temperature stability.

Magnum primers "MAY" give you a hotter flame temp then "regular" primers. Ball powders seem to like the Mag primers but I have and do use them in several of my rifles that are using stick powders. Short fat cases in my experience seem to like the mag primers as well, but not all. The rule of thumb is if you switch primers drop you load by 10% then work up from there. DO try them, you may find they work as well or better then the non mag primers. Best of luck.
