Winchester

There a fair number of them around, owners are just hanging onto them.
Stainless marine and police are much higher quality than the sxp marines.
Although I’m not sure the triple plating (copper, nickel and chrome) on the old guns would stand up as well as the hard chrome plating of the new sxp. The triple plating is more decorative than hard chrome. My old stainless marine scratched quite easily.

A very handsome shotgun. Noone is making them like this anymore. The 1300 marine only came with a black Matt receiver and the stainless barrel. The new SXP's, Mossburgs and recent Remingtons are nowhere near as nice as these 1200's..IMO

The old 1200-1300 series had a bad habit the dumping all the shells from the mag onto the ground at odd times...

I am a 1200 fan. But I never understood why Winchester dovetailed the barrel extension for the rear sight instead of putting the same rear sight they put on the 1200 deer slug models. Still nice gun.

I've always liked the Win 1200/1300"s and had & enjoyed a few of 'em over the years. Love the secure, rotary head bolt lockup to barrel setup along with the
light weight and smoothness of the action. Decent triggers on 'em too. Pity Winchester got more corporate focused than quality focused since the earlier times.

New member here, and just ‘reading around’ and found this thread.

As a matter of fact, I own a stainless marine that my late father purchased in the spring of 1986. First shotgun I ever shot, I was 10!

I can dig it out later in the week and try to figure out how to post a pic or two if anyone is interested.

Does anyone own one of these or have any hands on experience or information on them? The 1980's made in USA Winchester 1200 Stainless Marine. They seem to be rare as hens teeth .. where did they all go!? Certainly look to be much higher quality than the modern Turkish made Winchester SPX marine.

I've got one. I'm not sure that its ever been shot. It's gorgeous. I also have an Ithaca 37 marine.. not as shiny but slicker action.
