Nice looking little Harrison M250 on Crown assets, closes in a couple days. 11 inch swing.

Has electrical issues. Which may amount to nothing, or a lot, but to be considered. If it were more local to me, I would be keeping my mouth shut and bidding, but... :)

Also has 9 boxes of assorted accessories, a taper attachment, a Pratt Burnerd Multisize collet chuck, etc, etc.

1997 build date.

Just pointing it out to any that may be interested, esp., if in the area.

A chance to get a far better built lathe, for around the price of a Chinese made one of similar size.

I will be selling my gunsmithing lathe... Victoria, BC. ... with all the extras...

Y'know Dennis, I think I met you a long time ago. Like, late eighties. As I recall, you were pretty nice to a young fella!

But in any case, provide some details and a price point, and I am sure it will be well received!

Sold for right around $4K with taxes in. Pretty close to retail for a far inferior Chinese lathe of similar size, and with several thousands of dollars worth of extra accessories.

I’m happy with the standard moderns I bought for $800 each from there. 1.5 thru hole and Canadian made. D14 and prat and Bernard chucks. Also bought a KBC mill recently for $2600. Retail is $14k and it’s near mint. Just gotta watch for the deals.

Edit after I read lol. Look up gov deals. That’s where I buy. Crown assets has gotten better but I don’t even look anymore.

Gov Deals is mostly stuff out of the US with a very few items in Canada.

You get round top older SM lathes, or the newer square ones? I know that the US armed forces had a LOT of them. So did an awful pile of schools, in the case of the round head models.

You gotta find the deals where you can, though. I think, especially given the pack of extra stuff that came with that Harrison, it sold for a lot less than it would have cost to buy otherwise. Even with replacing a two HP motor, and possibly the coolant pump motor, it was a pretty good buy.

Ontario seems to be the place to find machine tools and at reasonable prices. Damn shipping cost though. :(

Grizz

I have had pretty good results, dealing through various Freight Brokers. Given the cost of fuel has doubled since then, I would expect the costs to have increased, but still usually a lot cheaper than a cross country trip to pick it up!

Gov deals does have a lot of USA stuff but I have my filter set to only show Canadian stuff to make life easier. I bought the old style square top 2000 series for lathes. I have seen a few modern square 13x40 standard moderns on gov deals also. Was tempted but already had mine and they work very well. Prolly seen 40 of them go thru there in the last 2 years.

I’ve bought 2 lathe, a mill ,and a dump truck/crane truck from gov deals. Love that place…

I quit watching crown assets as it used to be they never showed the current bid. I know that’s changed now but it bugged me for a long time.
