7mm FN 49?

I saw one today at the gun show, he said it was 7X57 calibre, a new looking FN49 with a muzzle brake. Very nice rifle.

I'd only heard of these being in 8mm or 30 06.

Yes in 7x57 and even a few in 7.62 Nato converted in Argentina for their Navy.

If I remember correctly it was $600. It looked like new, a very nice rifle. But me, I had just bought a beauty 42 LB and an FN49 wasn't in my cards...or budget...
