Howa 6.5 Grendel

So is the Grendel a necked up .223 or is it a different shoulder angle (like an Ackley improved)? That black bear colouration is beautiful. We are almost out of black bears in S.W. Alberta, the Grizzlies eat them like there ju-jubes.

so in the end ive gone the 7.62x39 route for the kid an for the deers out to 200m.

souns like a bit less than the grendel, but more than the 300blk. so im happy an think it l work a treat

Ordered up a Stocky’s Carbon Fibre Ultra light stock today ! AT 16 oz it’s 18 oz’s lighter then the factory Synthectic stock . I will be down to UNDER 6 lbs now ready to shoot . Gonna be NICE to get that club off the barreled action . Lol RJ

Did you get one of the dirt cheap factory second blems they sell occasionally RJ?

No i bought a FIRST - the BLEM ones need to finished etc ! RJ

Still a good deal considering.
I nearly bought one of the seconds awhile back during a time period when I owned a mini. I've bought and sold three now and have a love hate relationship with them. When I have one, I nitpick about the little things like carbon steel action instead of stainless and piss-poor proprietary magazine system.
When I am without one I dream about that slick little bolt throw and most excellent 2-stage trigger with bolt lock. :runaway:

Be sure to give us a report on that stock when you get it.

Mini Bartell is still loving the Grendel with Trail Boss loads, 100gr @ 1260 fps. Will start slowly increasing the load now, as he's 8 and it won't be long before he will be hunting

For him, it's been Grendel or bust. It took a bit for him to warm up to the Tikka 204 but he's finally wanting to use it. It weighs 9lbs scoped, heavy enough to be pretty tame to shoot. Played with some H4895 around 2500 fps, but he's currently shooting 40gr Vmax over 20.0grs D8208BR which does 3000 fps and he isn't fazed by the muzzle blast. Recoil calculator says it's about same as the trail boss Grendel loads in the lighter Howa 6.5

Brutal - youtube removed the video of my son shooting the 204 ruger as it goes against their guidelines for 'child safety' , even though he's wearing ear and eye protection
