Hey everyone I am looking at a swaro z5 3.4-18 BT. I am wondering what the real world reviews are like? Seems like some bad ones with tracking issues? I am looking for a lightweight scope for my sheep hunting rig

I have the z5 3.5-18 BT on my mountain rifle - it has been great and no issues tracking. So good in fact that I bought a z5 5-25 BT for my chassis rifle.

Neither liked being on a 20MOA rail - still 6" high at 100m with elevation bottomed out, but if you're going lightweight sheep rifle you don't want the extra weight of a rail anyways.

The glass is super clear, reticle is crisp and the colour coded BT with hard zero stop is awesome (the Swaro ballistic calculator got each setting right within a click or two).

I have a couple Z5s, bot 3-18X44, but the BRX and BRH, not the BT. I had the Z3 with a BT. It tracked well but I prefer the speed of the BRX and BRH and parted ways with the BT model. My lightweight sheep rifles all carry a Z3 3-10X42 with the BRX. Light, compact, excellent glass clarity, and the reticle works.

I've got a newer Z5 3-18x50 BT.

The tracking seems to be very good on the Z5 (so far) but it is limited to 13.5 MOA.

These scopes don't use HD glass (so I've been told) but the optical clarity for me is as good or better than my other "HD glass" scopes.

I'm very pleased with mine...YMMV

I have a similar Swaro Z7A Habicht, 3-12x50 with 30mm tube.

It's similar in that it doesn't have parallax adjustments or a side focus turret.

This scope is mounted on a Kimber, chambered for the 270 Win (only 270 Win I own)

All I can say about this scope are good things. It's parallax free much further than I would shoot, sharp/clear and the turret adjustments are positive in both directions, without backlash as well as being repeatable without concern.

I have a Swaro range finder and 20-60X straight spotting scope as well as a couple of older Swaro scopes on similar period rifles.

All of them are excellent and reliable under all conditions I've used them, Including -40F to +100F temperatures, wind, snow and rain.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with a Swarovski sight of any model.

As for weight under extreme conditions, such as Sheep hunting, I would rather lose the weight in other places than the scope/mounts. If a couple of ounces on the scope/mounts is going to make or break the hunt or make it to uncomfortable, there are other issues to take care of. Just IMHO of course.
