Sig 320 going off on its own

1ABNDT,

Thanks for posting. Interesting to the utmost. If I am authorized to read correctly, the Sig 320 pistol did not need any upgrades from the beginning because it was just about perfect but now, it has the upgrades.

All they had to do was put a trigger safety like on a APX or Glock and they would of never had this issue. Oh well, stay safe everyone.

Any gun that requires holstering to move it from condition one to condition two is inherently dangerous and particularly so in battlefield conditions. The US army version has a thumb safety. The Canadian version is specified as having no thumb safety. That was a reckless decision.

We are stuck with our P320 boys. Good luck to everyone.

In what situation would we Canadians want to holster a loaded P320? And hypothetically speaking, if we were to carry and holster it with no round in the chamber, does that eliminate the risk of an accidental discharge?

Can’t speak for the spicy units but the regular military carries it mag in not chambered for the hi power. So I would imagine it would be a rule for the 320 to avoid unintentional discharges.

Yes if the firing pin unintentionally travels forward in an empty chamber it strikes nothing. My concern would be when holstered during drills or post for employment it deciding to pop an extra round by itself for the king.

This happened to the CAF, and they called it a misfire…but they still bought them…. I know it’s a rare problem but a firing pin return spring is a odd and probably the worst part to fail. Which is why I didn’t buy one from tenda…

That's all the CAF needs is a gun that fires on it's own. I've seen the muzzle control a lot of those guys have... or don't have I should say!

I agree but consider the scenario when re-holstering the chambered gun during action. The Hi-Power has a thumb safety which can be applied for re-holstering thus moving the gun to condition two. There is no condition two for the P320. It relies on its specific holster to keep it safe from AD.

I have my 320 X5 Legion loaded and holstered at least once a week for IPSC practice and will again lots when I can compete. But I’m not walking around all day with it loaded and holstered. Just during the load and make ready stage. Then seconds later I’m drawing and firing anyway.

This is a very old issue - two-3 years old -that was fixed by Sig. It happened with military issued gun. SIG also had a trigger recall about that. Nothing new here. It is fixed. It’s servicemen proof now :) as much as a handgun can be.

Did you even watch the video? Gun was from 2019 and had the “fix”.
