Hey all, I’m new to Canadian Gun Nuts. So I figured I’d find a form talking about rifles and post my question here. This is my dilemma, I am wanting to buy a new rifle and am torn between these two. 1 the KODIAK DEFENCE WK180 GEN2, 18.6″ BARREL, BLACK, 5.56MM. This is gen 2 and I know the first gen had a lot of problems but I wanna know more about people that have been using it. And 2 the WOLVERINE SUPPLIES, WS-MCR RIFLE, 18.7” BARREL, 5.56MM. Any help would be great! Thanks

OP,I'd do a YouTube search, several vids on there about both rifles...I'm looking at grabbing something myself, but am not sure what to buy either...and there are a few more options for a bit more cash....also..the EE has some good deals too...

I'm pretty sure the WS-MCR is done.

The guys who were making them are now making the Crusader Arms Templar.

FWIW I'm very happy with my wx mcr. Accuracy is meh with the only box of factory ammo I've tried(roughly 4moa), but it's fantastic with my handloads using bulk components. If you can find one I'd recommend it even just for the heavier barrel. Whatever you pick up make sure to give it a once over and loctite any screws that haven't been already. From what I've heard that's an issue with both of the options you mentioned.

I am increasingly agreeing with this. We should not support Crusader Arms by purchasing any of it's products. For a couple years it was MCRs, now Templars, who knows that will come next. All I know is that the group doing this are dumping customers and leaving them without support

I have owned both. The wx-180 gen 2 would not chamber my handloads and with the price of factory ammo these days I dumped it quick. The ws mcr works with everything and is surprisingly accurate 1.5 moa with xtac green tips.

I have a few WS-MCR rifles which work very well. In many ways I prefer them to an AR15, actually. They are smoother to shoot, more accurate than a off the shelf AR and dont' need as much cleaning.

I have 1 WK-180 Gen 1 and I'm not as enthusiastic about it. Charging handle broke almost immediately and the extractor pin seems to work itself loose often, resulting in a jam.

I would buy another MCR but will have to wait on user reports for the Gen 2 WK.

Do you know if ws-mcr bolt carriers are the same as the wk180?

On TNA’s website they have a page where they list cross-compatibility between the wk180 and the ws-mcr and they say that the bolt carrier of the wk180c fits in the ws-mcr with « minor modifications ». I’m wondering what these modifications are exactly.

I don't know the difference, never tried. Maybe a question for the TNA forum?
