I'm a Canadian soldier, and I'm looking for a rifle that closely imitates my service rifle for training on civi-side. I've been looking around and I like the looks of the RRA Standard A4, but I've also heard good things about Diplomat and LMT. However being a lowly sapper, I'm also looking for something with a reasonable price tag.

any suggestions?
 
Buds Welcome to the forum. IMO I would not go with a 20" barrel or the Elcan optic. LMT,STAG with a 14" barrel and a Aimpoint would be my choice.Once you get into this "game" nothing is cheap. Go with a milspec rifle, and the Aimpoint is "good bag for the buck". Chimo Bro!!

Keep an eye out in the EE, lots of troops build rifles and then sell them. There are many good deals to be had. Don't be scared to go with a 10.5"
lots of fun and LCF, also no problem to keep up your IA's. If your not sure, ask someone on the site. We have no problem giving advice, so that folks don't make the same mistakes as we did. Check out the Pet gun club for a place to shoot. PM RePete on this site and he can help ya out.

I would go with a 14 inch or a 16 inch rifle.

Eotech or Aimpoint for close. Trijicon ACOG for further.

Dont be afraid to sk for Reaper's or ROBAK's advice, they are the Alpha/Omega in Pet for toys and advice.

Oh and get a membership at Eganville !!

I'd get the 16" myself - as your optic will have the same ballistics as the C8FTHB.
Dont drink beer a few weekends and get a ShortDot :pirate:
 
Obviously you never partied with the Engineers in Pet...
I had never seen a canoe go out a second story barrack block window before that. ;)
With a young sapper and a case of beer in it.
 
Yeah, my friends up here shoot with an Eotech and ACOG respectively, and I like the look of both, but with the ACOG costing nearly as much as the rifle, I'm looking at the former for the time being, thanks again for the suggestions.

as for partying, I've been in the permanent shacks since november, and since then we've had three doors kicked in, and one full size Christmas tree stolen from the Jr. Ranks, go figure...
