Getting stuck with a handgun you don't want

Not likely any machine shop up here will turn out Glock upper slides for you (and certainly not at any reasonable cost) or any of the myriad other parts required for that matter.

I'm still smiling:):)

Oh no. If only I knew a shop with a BFL that would do it for me. Whatever will I do.

Then why state originally that you might have regrets if parts get banned? (which actually they are now according to ITAR).

You're obviously so clever that you have that covered. No?????

Why don't you use some logical reasoning skills and check the date of my original post and today's date. See if you can deduce anything using that noggin of yours.

Touchy I see. Not my fault your investment went sour.

Maybe if you'd have just bought one frame and not every single one in the shop leaving nothing for anyone else????

Profiteers having their greed backfire on them makes most people smile (even more when they complain about it)

Enjoy your plastic:)

Meanwhile someone who really needed a P80 lower could not get even one. Yes your predicament does indeed make me smile:). Bought 5 legal handguns and not one of them goes bang. Enjoy!!

5x P80 frames is a lot yeah but to call it a "predicament" relax. P80 lowers weren't that hard to find and they're relatively cheap. I had seen quite a lot for sale: I've managed to get one. If an older RPAL holder missed out on one that's his own fault, he had plenty of time. A new RPAL holder was probably not even looking into purchasing those. P320's were probably a better option and there were a lot in stock. The BCL FoxBat was also available in the last days (which I kinda regret not buying post-freeze. They're kinda cool.)
I get that reselling is a disgusting practice but I don't think this is one of those cases lol

Except. It hasn't. I have absolute confidence these frames will be complete guns in the next couple of months. Parts are already rolling in.

At no time was my plan to "profiteer" as you put it. All 5 of these were purchased with a specific build in mind and each one for personal use. I am pretty please that my $800 purchase has made you that buttmad. If you didn't manage to get one single frame you must be really spread thin financially. I recommend you second career or work a little harder

You got 5x frames for 800$??? Dang that's a steal. My one P80 cost me a little less than 500$ XD

Children, lets all settle down now.
5 P80 frames is hardly an "investment" its a little over a grand taxes and shipping in. There were hundreds of p80 frames available, both stripped and complete for MONTHS prior to the ban. If some one missed out or couldn't scrape together $258 to get one, well thats on them. To wish poorly on one because you ASSUME they are trying to profiteer is being a bit butthurt.
If people had the means to aquire what they could then good for them.
Further, what is this "Itar parts banned" nonsense.

You just lend him the reg. slip along with the pistol. It can be an indefinite thing so long as the goal posts remain static. Have him rent it off you indefinitely for $800.

Is this actually a thing!? I also have a younger sibling and we were trying to get a Hi Power transferred to him when the hammer fell.

"......... just lend him the reg. slip along with the pistol. It can be an indefinite thing so long as the goal posts remain static ....."

It may be "a thing" now but since the regs are still being discussed in Committee and will be drafted until later it may not be a thing after the word gets back to the LPC and the CGC ......

Might be a thing somehow, my ATT says all restricted registered to me, not sure how that works to ones that aren't. Do you need a separate perpetual ATT for a borrowed for life pistol?

Getting stuck with a handgun you don't want?
I'll be the first to admit it, one of my last-minute purchases is not what I wanted.
unfortunately, it looks like I'm stuck with it!
I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?

so when I sat back and thought about which guns (or calibre) I wanted to add to my collection before the end one gun that popped into my head was a 44 mag.

so I looked around, found a nice Smith and Wesson combat 44 and picked it up.
i assumed it would be similar to my Ruger GP 357 mag or even my Ruger SP101 but it is far from it.
i immediately noticed it was not a metal gun but rather some super light alloy(??)
I wanted something beefy.
did some more looking around and realized I should have picked up a Ruger Redhalk or a a S&W big metal one.

so I was stuck, do I try to sell it off quickly and then scramble to try to find something I want?
is there anything in the country I want?
prices are crazy high....
and boom, the deadline hit and I didn't do anything and now I'm stuck with a pistol I don't particularly care for.

grrrrrrr, it's not a dud of a pistol, it reminds me of my dads S&W TR8.
it just wasn't what I was wanting.
silly ass changes.

just angers me thinking that this $1400 revolver will probably sit in my safe forever with 20 rounds fired through it.

If it is a Model 69 it is steel... and built on an L frame. It should be a great gun... a little heavy on the recoil but that why we reload...

I think maybe the 22lr pistols. I was thinking about my boy when he is old enough and wants to shoot so I bought a few to justify my panic buying. Lol. I already have a P220 only in 22lr. It jams all the time with bulk ammo. I never tried quality ammo. During my panic buying, I grabbed a mint S&W 617-3. That is a keeper for sure. But that lead to a Smith Victory and then a Glock 44. The g44 was a why not buy. It's the cheapest of my panic buys so it's not a total loss and I gained another pistol in my collection. The other one would be the glock 20. It's the only 40 cal I would own and I'm hesitant to invest hardware to reload it so it'll likely just sit on display in my future gun vault room. I guess regret is a relative term. I probably won't regret much at all. A pistol is a pistol. At the end, they all do the same thing. Make a boom and shoot a projectile down range. Lol However, i like big booms and nice recoil from time to time so 22lr almost always my last go to caliber, especially still able to reload at 2010 primer and powder prices.

Still waiting for all my goodies. My regrets may change.

If it's a Model 69, give it a chance - I really like mine. I considered a Redhawk and a S&W 29, but I really liked the idea of a compact .44 mag. It's not bad to shoot with full-power loads.

I regret not buying more. Still wanted a 1911 in .45, Glock 20, Sig P226, SW 617, SW629 and a Blackhawk. My needs exceeded my budget though. Happy with the calibers/guns I bought (.22, 9mm, .45, .357).

Edit: actually, I regret buying a surplus Jericho, never buy surplus but bought it on impulse due to the full metal frame.

Have you received your surplus Jericho yet? That was one of my "closed my eyes and maybe one last buy" moment. After that I read on the forums how a lot of them were all beaten and worn out so I instantly regretted it. However it just got shipped to me and it is an absolute gem. It is in really good shape and just a solid piece!

Might be a thing somehow, my ATT says all restricted registered to me, not sure how that works to ones that aren't. Do you need a separate perpetual ATT for a borrowed for life pistol?

Right. My ATT is from my home to the range or gun smith and back home (ie. the restricted firearms are in my possession, and at my home when not "in use".) Can I just get an ATT to drop it off at my brothers, then he gets an ATT to take it to hios range?

The ‘old’ special condition attached to the RPAL was you could transport any restricted ‘registered to the address’ of the licence holder within their province……. I often took my wife’s guns with her registration certificates.

The ‘newer’ special condition replacing the above is:

These licence conditions authorize the transport of restricted and/or prohibited firearms ‘registered to the licence holder’ within their province……..

I can’t see how, under this condition, you could loan anyone a restricted for them to transport as it’s not registered to them.
