what is the use of the screw on the front sight? looks to me you can loose it and move front sight to right
Adjusting a front sight is opposite. To raise point of impact screw down lower screw up. Sight needs to go left inorder to have point of impact right. Must say tactical imports customer service is great. I emailed describing the issue and within a few minutes they emailed back to tell me to send the rifle back for replacement and they will cover postage.
Id call that basic customer service, anything less then that would be ripping you off.
Just move the front sight over...
The front sight is already as far left as it will go and he's still shooting a foot to the left. If he moves it to the right he will shoot even further left.
Well as simple as I wanted to makes this all I did in preventative measure was put a simple 1" brass wood screw thru the perfect fit hole just behind the recoil spring:

I'm more then confident now this will take any unnecessary stress or flex off of those 2 bottom roll pins.
Was this unnecessary, YES. Should we have to do anything like this, NO.
This was an oversight on TI and the designers. Nit their fault but hopefully everyone who purchased these rifles will
A) either get a replacement stock JIC
or
B) they have a remedy from the factory for all of us buyers.
Until then I'll continue to play with and use this rifle without any worry
Ustauk said:TI already sold out of them in a Canadian specific Type 81 SR with the LMG barrel and a Dragonov style stock, despite a known issue with the stock pin sockets cracking and going to be needing a fix of some kind.
Tactical Imports said:Factory investigation revealed it was due to improper alignment of stock during install, if the holes weren't lined up properly then the pins would crack the stock as they'd just be pressed into the wood when installed. However it is a very rare issue, less then 10 units affected
The fact the SR still sold out with the known stock issue shows that TI was right that we were the only market on the planet who had a use for a DMR-style Type 81. Congrats on the innovation, looking forward to the official fix!
Or more likely since they are available at all the stores I’ve been too, they simply just distributed them to other retailers casting a wider net for more sales. Where as the type 81 rifle had several shipments sold before a very limited numbers were given to other stores.
