IN-STOCK: All-New TYPE 81 SR

Plus the Liberals might need more smoke to cover their latest failures.... cornered and injured rabid animals are dangerous and unpredictable.

From the comments an Instagram post on the LMG, https://www.instagram.com/p/CkgKiLEL210/:

Thanks-you for the post :)

Just to add to this, in some cases customers reported breakage after a few rounds or manipulating the action, the stock was likely already broken due to the factory install issue and just basically came undone with these actions.

Regardless, we are asking factory to come up with a stronger stock to send out to clients directly if this issue comes up and also check the remaining units in the production run, so that on shipments 2 and 3 this won't be a problem. As mentioned before we will also have these offered at subsidized price for those that wish to have second/imporved one on hand

FYI we are still at around 1% failure rate

That's an amazingly good failure rate for any product.... almost as good as Covid's faillure rate.

Will the basic folder's ever come back?

Thanks, I posted here since I know some people avoid other social media sites :)gasp: CGN is social media :-) )

Good to hear you have some plans incoming to address potential issues, especially if you have two more shipments in the pipe.

You may want to look at some feedback regarding detachable cheek risers in the Type 81 mod thread on the Red Rifle subforum. You may be implement some changes if the risers are not made yet.

I can picture that the country will soon be T81 heaven, keep bringing them in!

Well I've got 300rnds thru mine and not a single issue with it so far.
Didn't have a stoppage or any problems. (Yes I know only 300rnds so far)

BUT

Stock is fine, no cracking or wobble or anything wrong with it after shooting the rifle.

It's actually somewhat accurate too at 100y. Barnual was easily giving me 1-3 MOA almost consistently.
Norinco copper washed ammo really sucked at 100y. Would have 1 or go 2 clean shots then flyers all over.

@ 200y on a 12" visi circle target I can easily hit it (groups weren't the greatest but can land all hits on target pretty easily.

@ 300y the 12" gong was very easy to hit. (Once I figured out the reticle after sighting it in at 100y).
This really is a super fun rifle to blast off and ringing gongs @ 300y hit after hit after hit in somewhat of a rapid succession was just too much fun.

Very little recoil so follow up shots are fast, even at 300y and with only the 4x NPZ scope.

10 rnds of Barnual at 100y -

Another 2x 5rnd groupings of Barnual (outlined) while the X hits are Norinco Copper Washed -

IMG-20221108-153459-446.webp

And another fresh target @100y (Barnual is middle/Bullseye and Norc is bottom left diamond) -

What's funny is at 50y I thought the Norc was gonna be the winner for ammo as it was such good groupings but then at 100y they opened way up.

Barnual ammo was always somewhat consistent at every distance. Think I found the best ammo for this rifle, I still have yet to try Norc white box and bulk Czech corrosive but prob just stay with Barnual as I've got 1000's of rnds of it.

Here is a pic of the tang of the stock after shooting 300 rnds today -

A couple dings to the bell of the scope but a little velcro strip or NOT extending the sunshade will probably protect it just fine

NPZ scope held zero, never gave me any trouble (Once I figured out how to zero the damn thing LOL) and the glass is crisp and clear. The quality of it really is top notch for a soviet style fixed optic.

I think I'm in love with this cheapish ammo burner and exactly what it does for me from 100y accuracy - 300y gongs is what I've been waiting a long time for

300 yards is already pretty far for a recreational shooter. Too bad my range is now in winter wonderland coating. Last season when I shot the 300m distance, I had to remove a tree branch at 250m hanging in the sight pictures, people only shoot out to 200m max.

Then this rifle should be more then capable at 200y for the rec shooter

your fix seems to work and even make it a keeper. glad like others including you really like the scope.

Nice report. Wrap around the scope front with paper towel is a good temporary fix.

Thought I would have a look at it as I finally have a spare minute, unfired hung on the wall(no weight on stock) … looks like it’s cracked with no rounds down the pipe. What do do now…

It looks like both upper and lower pin holes are cracked, probably due to the misalignment when inserting the pin. Could contact TI and see if they're able to swap a new one. I heard there'll be a new batch with reinforced stock. Maybe can wait a bit and exchange with the new batch one.

Those rivets are put through with only 1/8 of an inch of wood on the end of the stock so no wonder it splits. Need to design it like the dragonov stock.

Still a crap design that needs to be improved, but I believe the 1% fail rate. At this point it seems pretty obvious it's an installation error, otherwise it doesn't explain why most people have no failures after hundreds of rounds and some have it out of the box. It's not like the wood fatigues and suddenly fails it's either going to fail from recoil or it's not. I'm pretty confident in the bfiles fix as extra insurance. If the stock cracks the rifle can still function. The same can't be said for the other more "tactical" 7.62 x 39 offerings that are made in Canada.

1 percent could be the out of the box failure due to different wood grain, humidity or installation etc.... who knows what the first year (under warranty) actual use faillure rate will be? Likely more then 1 percent might not even get fired before the warranty is done.

Good news is they are looking to improve it and make the improvement available to the one percenters out there..... that's above and beyond if 1 percent ends up being the failure rate.

It could be installation error but can it be thermal expansion and contraction?
