New Range Gun!! Sterling R18!!

No but you and sfrc risked your customers health and safety with those shotty troy 102s. With known faulty firing pins etc. Know what can happen when a firing pin breaks?

This is 100% incorrect.

The moment we saw there were issues, we stopped selling the rifles and we test fired a minimum of 10 rounds through each rifle and then inspected each one…

We “grounded” every one that was not 100% and we still had them sitting there at the time of the OIC.

This is something we did. It was not a Troy driven action. We also ate all of the costs involved with this testing…

In reality, the 102 debacle destroyed TSE’s relationship with Troy.

So please don’t try to imply some nefariousness on our side.

Tested with 10 rounds and then sold rifles with knowingly bad parts. Yeah good move you and sfrc made there.

Edit: and the firing pins were known to be improperly hardned by your own admission. How someone can fire 10 rounds and call it good knowing this and pass them off to customers is the reason I don't do business with you or sfrc.

In case anyone's not seen the edit to my short range report. JR wasn't comfortable with the accuracy results I had and considers it a warranty issue so it's going back to them to be sorted out. Looking forward to being able to provide an update with better results.

So… after a lot of accuracy testing, we’ve found the current barrel inadequate (inconsistent) and have landed on using a true tapered mid-weight profile with an 11 degree match crown.

Accuracy averages went from 3-8 moa to a solid 1.5-3 moa. (With fliers)

We tested a ton of rifles with this new barrel and it works!!!

Unfortunately the weight has also gone up, but we couldn’t help that at all:

8 lbs 8 oz for the 6 position
8 lbs 10 oz for the folder

We’ve confirmed with Mike (OPS guy for SAI) and…Yes, they will rebarrel anyone’s rifle once we get the barrels in (3-4 weeks) as a warranty issue.

Please be patient and enjoy your rifle in the mean time. Just don’t expect accuracy miracles. ;-)

Top-notch customer service with proactive accuracy testing and warranty Barrel replacement across the fleet. Pretty hard to complain about that!! Well done to SAI and TSE for looking after their customers at the expense of profits....

I am very much looking forward to accuracy testing the new barrel when my "keeper" R18 arrives. I have some GP-90 squirrelled away just for such purposes!

Excellent response on the barrels! That level of care in the product, combined with the AR-15 like ergonomics may well be enough value to offset the military use of a Tavor or Bren 2 at a similar price point. Get a 7.62x39 mm version that can feed reliably from XCR pistol mags or take AK mags, and the R18 can also eat the M10x's lunch, as the price premium is worth it for much better reliability.

Out of curiosity who is the barrel manufacturer of the new barrels? Or if machined I house who's blanks are you using?

Hello- my friend has one of these and it absolutely will not cycle any barnaul ammo. We even had a few issues extracting some .223 brass stuff, i believe winchester. Will need to confirm.

What should he do? Have there been any adjustments to the gas system? Why will it not cycle steel?

It should absolutely use Steel cased ammo.

A 180 degree turn, opening the gas, should cure all.

It also should have an adjustable gas block. It if doesn’t, it is one of the very early rifles and can be sent back to have it changed out.

Please let us know how we can help out.

Thank you for the information. Do you have a picture of the early models without the adjustable gas block?
