Am I #### out of luck trying to buy any nitro express caliber in Canada? I have been trying to find places in Canada that sell nitro express caliber guns, but I am always being redirected to the states. If anyone knows of any places to get these guns let me know because I have been looking everywhere and the ones I have found in Canada cost upwards of $12k

A quick google search says they're under 10,000 joules.
I could be mistaken, but I thought the .470 and .500 were around 7000 and 8000 joules respectively.
Prophet river has a .470 Rizzini, and a 505 Gibbs, Calgary shooting centre normally has a double rifle or two,
Elwood epps has half a dozen double big bores.

I’ve never shot the .500, but shot the .470 reasonably extensively in a Merkel. This was alongside my Merkel .375 H&H, an Empire .450 Rigby, a .505 Gibbs of stickhunter’s on loan, and some other mid and big bores. Out of all of them, the .470 was the kindest to shoot in recoil impulse, and the one I was tied for most accurate with. I may have even been quicker with that .470 than the .375s.
This said, it’s just too slow in my eyes for proper bullet performance. It’s built for solids, which don’t have a ton of purchase here in North America. And it’s worth noting the .470 isn’t a “big” gun in terms of fearsome recoil or energy. I’m more leery of a .375 RUM than a .470 by far.
