I've got 2 Glock 21 pistols with problems...

First is a Gen 3 and it's got a dead trigger. Pull back slide, let it go, trigger is dead. I figured it needed a cleaning so cleaned the gunk out but to no avail. I'm guessing the connector is damaged?

The other one is weird it's probably a simple fix but I've never encountered it before. Took the Gen 4 apart to clean and reassembled and I get this?

When the slide is locked back it sticks up in the air. I can compress it back down, feels like a spring is holding it up but I can't figure it out?

While I'd prefer to look at them hands on, I'm a couple provinces away lol. PM me and send some detailed pics. I can likely figure it out. Cheers

Looks like the rear rail is gone . With the rail in place there is no way u can compress and decompress the slide like that

Just took another look and yes the rear rail insert is gone! Must have sheared off during firing. This may be an interesting part to replace !!

The Gen 3 issue is likely the connector, I had a similar issue on a g19 gen 3 but it would reset the trigger every second or third slide pull. I replaced the connector and its working great now.

How familiar are you with firearms? It's not a poke, it's just that you haven't installed the slide properly in this pic and it kinda has me wondering if you know what you're doing?

Yikes, that sucks.
What's going on on the top of the Mag Release? With what appears to be excessive wear on the side of the trigger as well, it might have been a crack through the whole left side of the frame, which then allowed enough movement in the rail insert that it sheared off? Difficult to tell from one picture. I would suspect over pressure rounds being the possible cause of problems in both of your Glocks. 45Acp is a very low pressure round, and generally very soft firing in a polymer frame pistol. But, 45Acp reloads can easily be accidently be double charged or suffer bullet set back if not taper crimped.
Sorry, I know none of this will help your situation, but might be a possible cause.

The gen3 sounds like a connector issue. They are cheap so replace and see if the problem persists.
The Gen4 looks fvcked!
Pics of it dissassembled would help but it does look like the rail is missing.

Yeah, the rail is missing for sure, now that I look at it. Not a very common problem so I was a bit surprised! Wasn't locking back on empty mags and it slam fired, I suppose this was the cause of both problems. I figured it just needed a good cleaning but nope. haha

Hope this pic works

Glock was originally engineered for 9mm and therefore myself I decided to have G17 as the most reliable and durable gun as it was the first model line released. Perfection by design it is. G19 is ok still. And then Glock went on pleasing larger calibers fun clubs but that was at the cost of its reliability. I mean all these 40sw, 10mm, 45ACP etc. can run their number of thousands rounds but that will be still much less than 9mm would do. It is still a cheap plastic frame with molded bits of metal rails. Like you put V6 engine into Honda Civic and wonder why transmission, suspension, CV axels and other stressed parts go so fast.

Well I guess you have a spare connector for your gen 3 now. If you cant get Glock to take care of it the only option I can think of is a Polymer 80 PF45 rear rail and some creative machining. Maybe Saskatoon gunworks can bring the parts in?

I think the Poly 80 idea may be the only feasible solution. I wish this had happened a few weeks ago as I would have just bought another handgun if I could find one. And/or Glock might have warrantied it or done something to help out but I am going to assume they wouldn't be able to transfer me a new frame at this point.

Who does Glock warranty in Canada anyway? Despite having a number of Glocks I've never needed warranty work, just replaced small parts/springs etc.

This is yet another aspect of the handgun freeze that is going to start becoming more frequent as round counts build up in guns. Replacing parts is one thing but when frames start breaking or cracking we won't be able to replace them.

He can teach you alot young grass hopper. But hard to put something back proper, when it's missing a key part.
